My name is Myles. I have been here in MENA, read most of the posts here, and this is my first post. You all seem like a tight knit group. Anyway, my fiancee (Leila) is from Morocco. We filed our petition with a lawyer. I did not find VJ until after the fact. I read the guides from this site and she asked me to submit more than this site suggest. That's ok, but I was curious about everyone here. What document you submitted with your petitions ourtside of what is mandatory? And if you think it helped your case get processed faster?

I think I was late filing for AOS:

07/27/07: Mailed AOS papers to Chicago mailbox.

08/02/07: AOS papers received in Chicago.

WELCOME TO ME/NA!!!!! It's always great to see a new member in here :)

I used a lawyer to file our stuff so I don't really remember what forms were what forms. I know he asked me to send .....

3 years tax records

proof of employment

letter from employer

work history

copy of birth certificate

i think he wanted passport size pictures (but i could be mistaken)

we had to have a co-sponsor so I also had to send my co-sponsors information (3 years tax and proof of employment)

I'm sure there is probably more but I just don't remember....I hope this helps you :)

and, as I always say to the new members... if you ever have a question, please do not hesitate to ask :)

Filed: Timeline

We sent the petition and the bio forms it asks for along with my citizen proofs, my divorce decree, pics, my travel info (boarding passes, visa, etc), a copy of his entry stamp from his passport to show he was there at the same time (we did not meet in his country), pics of us together, a copy of our Islamic marriage contract with a letter explaining why we didn't have our marriage registered and filing K-1 instead, a letter explaining the weird address/mail system over there so they didn't try to send stuff to his house and a cover letter detailing everything that was in there and it's order.

When I talked to an atty before beginning this process they wanted everything that would be required from the petition through to the AOS so maybe that's what your atty is doing... just making sure you have everything before last minute. It is their job to be ####### after all :P

Alf mabrook on your engagement and welcome to VJ (F)

We filed on our own. I sent:

Copies of all boarding passes from my travel to Morocco

Receipts from purchases and ATM withdrawls made in Morocco

Copies of my bank statements from the time I was doing transactions in Morocco

Copy of my flight intenerary

Original photos from my trip to Morocco

Copies of personal correspondence between Ahmed and I

Copies of chats and emails between us (we limited this to about 5 of each, since the majority of it should be presented at the interview)

Completed g325A for each of us

Completed I-129F

Signed letters from each of us with intent to marry

Copies of passport pages showing entry/exit stamps with date

Passport-style photos

Original BC

For his interview we collected:

All photos of us together and photos of me with his family

Originals of the boarding passes and receipts I sent with the petition

A complete copy of the petition

Notarized affidavit

1 year's worth of banking records (the bank wouldnt supply the detailed letter I needed)

3 year's of tax transcripts

Copies of my paystubs for the last 6 months (I think)

Letter from my employer

Passport-style photos

DS230

DS156K

DS156

Ahmed's original BC w/English translation

Ahmed's police certificate w/English translation

All original correspondence we have sent each other

Several dozen internet chats and emails (a selection from the last several months)

Phone log for all calls made since my trip to Morocco

New letters of intent to marry

Copies of all RFE's and NOA's, and letter from NVC

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but feel free to PM me if I can be of any further help!

P.S. Your fiancee has a lovely name, it's also the name of my fiance's sister :)

My first thought was OMG did you have to send it in a BOX? but then I noticed you actually had two different lists :blush:

I am definitely and overachiever when it comes to paperwork. And yes, I actually did send a box LOL!

Myles, what step are you on? If you are just filing the I-129F now it is important to figure out your red flags and address them with this petition rather than wait for it to get to the consulate. Of course it is much easier to bring a woman from Morocco than a man, so it should go well for you.

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'
