Hello everyone I decided to make this thread to get some insight on how you and your partner cope with everything going on.

Well to start off me and my fiance have been together almost 7 years we have a almost 5 year old who just started school this year. My fiance has been in Mexico almost 3 years. I initially moved with him but came back for school went back then came back and havent went back since. It's been almost a year that we haven't seen each other. We communicate mostly through texts and talk on the phone once a week.but its starting to get tough. I plan on starting our petition in January. Then I know there's gonna be another long wait.

So besideds my ramble what do you guys do to deal with what life's thrown at you with not being able to see your loved ones.

We have been married since Sept 21, 2011, and known each other since December of 2009. On the 24th of this month it will be 14 months since I haven't seen my wife. So far 4 months into the process, and counting. We use Skype, FB, Magicjack, and e-mail. It's very tough but it can be done, the distance and wait, not for the weak that is for sure. We have our ups and downs, some days are better than others. Stay positive and know the reward in the end is priceless. Best of luck in the process.

Carlos

Thank you for your response. I just wanted to be sure were not the only couples with ups and downs. Things have definitely been harder since its holiday season.

I spent 9 months with my wife in Colombia when we were dating, I left Nov 29th, 2010 and yeah Holidays are extremely tough for us. Need to stay positive and know each day is one day closer to be together for good.

Wow, that has to be tough. But traveling to Mexico is way easier than a lot of places overseas. The longest we were apart was nine months waiting for the visa. I would have visited her more but I had already blown way too much money and work.

We did yahoo video chat. It helps to be able to see them.
