I know he'll say that stuff too about the kids in Egypt. Already there have been "comments' made...

One time early on in the relationship we were talking and my 9 yr old made bunny ears behind my head as a joke. He was po'd and lectured me for 1/2 hour about how that is disrespectful and that I need to tell her not to do that. That was actually the third thing that had happened so he waited for three times before he spoke. I'm actually grateful because I tend to be very lax whereas their dad is very strict and they get away with a lot with me, but lately I am being stronger and telling them not to do certain things because it's not respectful.

the kids are slack in putting their toys/clothes away, etc.

well girl..if yours is anything like mine... you'll need to get it in gear REALLY QUICK coz its a big big big big issue with mine!! Just wanted to offer that bit of advice coz I didn't think it was a big deal...BOY WAS I WRONG! good luck :)

It really does depend on the man. Abdel is always telling me to lay off my sons - and they're 21 and 25! My youngest has a pile of trash and dishes and dirty laundry in his room that is now knee deep - and he's 6'1" so that's pretty deep. Abdel fusses at me if I dare say anything to him about it. Last night when Abdel was doing dishes he asked me to go get the ones out of my sons room (not because we want to pick up after him but we miss those dishes in the kitchen). It took me about 4 trips to get them all, but he didn't even fuss! He just smiled and said thanks and washed them.

Abdel is very into "live and let live" though, so I guess that's just a part of who he is. He does his share of the housework without having to be asked, but if I ask him to do something specific he'll do it too.

I guess I'm lucky that Yousuf has young nephews and he's witnessed my kids do some things, on webcam or because I told him about it, that burned my butt and he said... oh they are nothing compared to my nephews  and laughed it off.

When I complain about my kids not picking up after themselves he's like... you know, here in Libya we try that too but we end up having to do it ourselves too ;)

So I think he'll be annoyed by it the same way I am but I don't think I'll hear... the kids in Libya (blah blah blah)... They are much more likely to hear about the starving kids in Africa/Asia/Iraq/(insert whatever country comes to my mind at that moment) when they won't eat than they will from him

I wonder if the feeling is different with neices rather than with nephews......like maybe the girls are expected to pick up but the boys aren't.
