Morning. I'm hungry. Need food and coffee. mmmm... work all day, one hour between jobs, back to second job. That's my day. At work last night they threw me in all by myself and said have fun. It was a disaster for the first two hours, but the last two were easy. Think I might be getting me a cat soon. there is a little stray cat that has become very comfortablt with me. last night she walked right into the entrance of our house. I sat on the stoop with her for a little and she curled into a ball on my lap and fell asleep. Too bad I had to co to sleep too. I felt bad leaving her in the cold rainy night. Hope she's ok. She ate two hot dogs all by herself too. 100% beef. mmm... ok gotta find somthing to wake me up. have a good day everyone.

It was 30 here this morning with a very heavy frost. Mohammed and I carved out a "plan B" last night and a timeline in case this wretched wait turns out to be even longer. Helps a bit to have. An unexpected turn of events has complicated our situation if the wait goes on several more months. Just what we needed.

Jmagayrah, I'm glad to see a couple rainbows and unicorn and fuzzie kitties. They come in handy sometimes too.

Hope everyone keeps warm.

I am curious about your plan "b". I made one about 5 days ago, it makes you feel better and I think it is very calming.

Just Waiting - Sorry to hear about your set back, I can't imagine how hard it must be for you. Yes, a Plan B can help (even though you really really hope you don't have to use it).

Our plan B is that if he doesn't have the visa within 2 years I will talk to my medical school and try to figure out someway I can do my 2 years of clinical work in Spain, or possibly somewhere else in Europe. This is diifficult to do and I hoping it doesn't come down to this, but we'll do what we have to do. It does help to think that someway you'll be together.

Do you guys find that people don't really expect that you'll have a plan B? My friends are always telling me "Well if he can't get the visa, then I guess you'll have to break up." Its like our relationship doesn't "count" as much because he is from Algeria. Ugggg...just kind of mad at the world this week.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Absolutely and make sure it's something that'll entertain the rest of us :P

A plan B is always a good thing to have.... we have several B, C, D and E but they would all be too hard so we just need to get that VISA!!!

Its like our relationship doesn't "count" as much because he is from Algeria. Ugggg...just kind of mad at the world this week.

I get this all the time with friends and family. And we are MARRIED. I have obviously made a commitment to this man... and I still get "well, what are you gonna do if he can't come? I guess it won't work out then." Ummm YES IT WILL because we will MAKE it work. It's beyond frustrating.

I think one thing that contributes to this is that our SO's, for the most part, CAN'T come here. So, at least in my case, my friends and family see me traveling to Paris all the time (when he lived in Paris) and they were always like "Why doesn't he just come here?" If only it were that simple. I think from their point of view, I was doing most of the sacrificing, but what they didn't understand is it was impossible to make it work any other way. And in their eyes, it's not worth it.

What also bugs me is the "because he's Algerian" vibe I get from everyone. "Oh look, she has to sacrifice blah blah balh BECAUSE HE'S ALGERIAN." "She doesn't want to drink wine tonight with dinner, I bet because her HUSBAND IS MUSLIM and won't LET her." My best friend is engaged to a man from Scotland and it's so funny (or horribly depressing) to look at the differences in people's reactions to both of our relationships. Ugh.. oh well.

I'm hoping that when my husband comes (he's arriving today at 12:15!!!! actually I have to leave soon to pick him up... :)) and people can see us together than they will finally get it.
