I received both email and text that my I-129F petition was received 10/12/2012, and was also sent a receipt number. I tried checking my status 2 weeks later, and it said that it could not be found when I entered that number at the USCIS site. I called the phone number provided, and was told that my petition was recieved and on file, and that it was a computer glitch. Now, over a month later, it is still not showing up at the website. Should I be worried?

Thanks in advance, of any help and/or information.

are you doing it right, use CAPS,or check the case number, uscis check case status online,

Yes I entered my full 13 character application receipt number including the WAC that is all capitals. When I called them before, the first one that answered the phone said my status did'nt show up for him either, but when he put someone higher up on the phone, he claimed that there was no problem with the petition, that it was just the computer not showing it. My opinion is that they just haven't taken the time to enter it on that website. I don't want to keep calling and harrasing them, but if I need to, I will?

Judging by many other similar posts, it seems like they may having some issues with their systems these past few days.

I hadn't saw the other post, I tried searching before posting, but came up empty handed... I am thinking that they are so far behind at the Vermont service center, that they have simply neglected to enter it so that it shows up on the website.

I will email them, since it has been over 30 days that I called them about it not being entered. Even though they have the petition in their hand, in worries me that mine may not be kept in the order, if not in the system. I can under stand "a few days", but it clearly said to wait until getting the receipt back in the mail, before checking the status online. I recieved it back over a month ago...

Half the time the online status isn't updated, is updated late, status changes from one thing and then back.

The uscis site is by no means ultimately accurate :)

The same thing happened with us in 2009 at CSC. We called every 2 weeks or so, but it took almost 5 months for our case to show up online--the day of approval! Unfortunately that is the way it goes for a lot of people. Calling or emailing them is not going to make them enter your case online, BUT it didn't stop me from annoying them frequently and getting some peace of mind that everything was indeed okay with my case. Good luck to you!
