Well that's the gist of it right there. When you work a union job, you don't get paid based on your performance. You get paid based on how long you've been in that position. Not exactly a formula that produces high productivity. I was 17 when I got my first union job. They handed me some paperwork that stated you will be paid X dollars per hour and you are considered junior bucket washer or whatever. Then after one year, you will earn y dollars per hour and we will call you senior bucket washer. It didn't matter how well I washed buckets in that first year, I would still earn senior bucket washing wages in the second year.

Another fun thing. The janitors at the job site where I was working went on strike. So for 3 weeks I didn't work because we couldn't cross their picket line.

I remember once going to work and forgetting my union card. The union card checking nazi happened to roll through, and I was sent home

How many examples out there of executive pay NOT based on performance but established parameters? Good for the goose, but not for the gander? Established parameters for pay exist outside of union contracts and they prevent someone from being paid unfairly. It's far more effective to focus on hiring good employees and disciplining the ones who under perform.

It's far more effective to focus on hiring good employees and disciplining the ones who under perform.

As far as I can tell, executive pay is determined by an elected board of directors. Also, there is a mechanism there to vote out the board of directors by the shareholders. If the corporation doesn't perform, then the board of directors get rid of the CEO. Happens all the time. See J.C. Penney recently. I agree with you about hiring good employees and disciplining bad ones. However, I've seen cases where short of the union employee assaulting his supervisor, it's almost impossible to fire a union worker.

Why is that the only way you Libs can defend the absurdity of you statements is to point out faults on the other side of the house. Guess what. Executives being paid for poor work , is a big wrong also. Two wrongs don't equal one right
