Entering US on VWP

Missed my connection in Atlanta having been in secondary for 2hrs, this after an hr waiting in visitor line.

At the Delta desk explained why I had missed my connection.

"No problem sir, we get that a lot"

They simply got me on my choice of flight out, 20 mins later, no extra charge.

I've had a similar connection in Atlanta before and it's been ample.

Your flight will probably arrive at the new international terminal.

You will go through customs and immigration, collect your bags before re-checking them onto the belts just after customs.

You will then need to take the automated people mover to the terminal that your next flight will for part from.

It's really easy as all terminals are lettered from T for the main terminal building ,A-E are the letters for the reaming terminals in order of course.

Best to try have a seat near the front of your flight to Atlanta if possible to minimise your exit time from the aircraft.

It was a typo, luv. I read it as "remaining" from the context. The other comment was a joke.

Hi Nathan,

No letters from your employer, no bank statements, not anything. Just have fun! As a British citizen you should not have any problems at all at the border. Just be honest and tell them you are going to visit your girl-friend, that's it. They are going to ask you whether you are going to get married while you are in the US, say no!

I'm flying to see my girlfriend on Tuesday, to spend Thanksgiving with her (my first one, can't wait, no idea what to expect really!)

I was wondering if anyone could give me a heads up on US border these days? The last time I flew was prior to 9/11 and I was a minor, so didn't even really pay any attention. Just some questions:

Do I need to prove financially how I'll survive for the 2 weeks that I'll be there?

Is it perfectly fine to be brutally honest about visiting my girlfriend/staying at her address?

Are they likely to want any other forms of ID other than my passport?

Sorry, just slightly concerned having watched (in horror!) the process a colleague of mine had to go through when trying to get through UK border - I felt like I was watching a police interrogation!

My husband came over quite frequently when we were dating and he was always honest about it being to see me. He even showed them the ring when he came over to propose and told them he was coming to spend Christmas with his wife when we were waiting for the visa. He was never asked for additional proof but if you have a copy of your return ticket, a bank statement, mortgage or lease and something from your work showing the dates of your holiday approval and date expected back to work it would be helpful if there were further questions. My hubby had to go to Secondary screening a few times. We thought it was due to passport being stolen and replaced but we found out when we went to Bermuda it is because some Canadian criminal has the same name. We also got a secondary agricultural screening but that was because we brought in OXO cubes. We had no idea they would consider those to be beef and a Mad cow risk. If you are not doing anything wrong and are honest you will have no trouble.
