And yes, you can get screwed in any country, but at least you would know what to do

if it happened here.

Let me say that some surgeries have clauses that you must sign that you cannot hold anyone liable for the outcome. I know I lost my first husband due to staph infection, abcess in original wound that they cleared up but the stress on his body caused him to die and be brought back 5 times before the final and last episode. And the clause was good enough that no attorney would touch it. So beware no matter where you live it all depends on the paperwork to whom you can hold liable.

Mary

In the US there are many clinics being run by people without credentials. Does that happen anywhere else?

And why US and Europe? Canada, Australia, Japan....none of those are worthy of your eyes?

I said *I* wouldn't go anywhere else. Nothing wrong with Canada but I wouldn't go

there and I definitely wouldn't go as far as Australia, and Japan?? hell no! Engrish is

not an option for me.

Being shortsighted I know you lose the depth perspective and get unsure about distances, when not wearing glasses or contacts. Maybe he has myopia... :hehe::lol:

No - it's because I think our healthcare system is superior to Canada's.

:ot2: - this thread is not about me or where I'd go.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

While I have never been to Brazil, I have been to Argentina and while the Brazilians may not like to think of Argentina being on par with them :D , I would not hesitate having Lasik in Bueno Aires.

YMMV

Well, I just had a lot of dental care in PUBLIC Argentinian hospital, and trust me, Brazil is WAY better. Mark, you should really visit São Paulo. It's got its dodgy parts, like any city, but the medical care I have received there has always been on par or better than here. The offices are just as nice, and what I really appreciate is the time the doctors there are willing to spend with you.

I usually try to get English-speaking doctors there because one little misunderstanding could theoretically cause a big problem. Luckily English is widely spoken in big Brazilian cities (in my experience) among the educated and usually at a high level.

I would have no reservations about getting medical care in São Paulo, but I want to figure out how to get it for free. :) By the time we're married on the K1, Rey won't have that job in Brazil anymore (or the insurance). And I don't know many U.S. insurance companies that cover Lasik.

not only that, the brazilians are very concerned about the environment. i just saw a story about how the brazilians recycle many things. in fact, the brazilians even recycle used condoms and sell the resulting product to argentina as chewing gum......
