i don't have access from work

it's against corporate policy and if access is attempted through the corp servers you this big pop-up message stating that this site is in violation of corporate policy.

same with my wife's company. only they don't do the pop-up thing. the person attempting access to facebook gets to spend a few minutes with the boss and IT dude to receive a warning

so that's two companies ....

There are ways around that. Like clicking on the link 10 times until it allows you in. Some IT department limit number of access and you just have to figure that number out. Also by typing in the link with a different domain extension such as .ru or for whichever country you're comfortable seeing the content in a little different format. I realize not everyone is savvy to that or go to that extent or that every company allows access but many do just so they can monitor your content. I can see how if you're a large company like a call center they may not want to keep track of the content and will put in preventative measures.

let's see ...

corporate policy is clear on certain types of websites. sure there are ways around the gate keeping software ... but at what cost? websense or other software tracks internet usage and is capable of data storage (sites visited) and generates reports. banging on a forbidden website 10+ times gives you lots of hits on a forbidden websites and the IT folks just love it when you make their job easy. and yes ... they track the forbidden site hits ... they give you a few freebies before you're in the crosshairs.

my wife and i work for large process control related corporations that have offices all over the world ... our IT departments are pretty aggressive in protecting data and preserving bandwidth. going to a different domain ... oh my gosh why didn't our IT folks think of preventing that ... oh wait ... they already did

anyway ... who wants to get an invitation to pursue other career opportunities just because of the need to see a facebook post ?

Unless of course the Teachers post refers to Bush.

Stupid is stupid, regardless of who the subject happens to be.

People who think free speech means they can say what they want, where they want, and with no consequences deserve to learn that's not how it works.

Thats nice now address the point, this stuff was wide spread aimed at Bush, only the most dramatic instances resulted in any "concern".

She DID address the point. The subject doesn't matter. She was stupid to say anything like that; insert whatever politician's name in her statement. It's still stupid.
