Hey, so i finally got to the states and i love it here, and ive been googling for while now trying to see if theres anyway i can stay here legally...

and im not sure, i came here on the visa waiver program, but i would like to stay and work, i have another 2months left on my visa waiver before i have to go home, and i was told that i should apply for a grencard cause if i dont hear word back from it even if i overstayed my current 90days then its fine, until i get my greencard back, is this true? or is this nonsense, i find it to good to be true, and i always thought a greencard is hard to obtain, anyways...

Can anyone answer this for me? with maybe links on what i can get/need within my current 90days that i can get before it runs out?

Can i apply for another visa before my visa waiver runs out? as i have sid, i have 2months remaining, and im looking into it now rather than leaving it to a later date incase theres problems..

Can anyone point me in the right direction and tell me how i can maybe stay here?...Has to be done legally though, as i am not a criminal

i just fell in love with the USA :D...Thank you! :P

Without being married to an American (or otherwise being an immediate relative of a US citizen; immediate relative = spouse of, parent of, minor child of, widow/er of a US citizen) it is not possible.

The best way would be to return to Ireland and try to find a company willing to sponsor you for an H1-B (work) visa.

You cannot stay and work legally in the US on a VWP.

If you want to work in the US, you have to find an employer who will file an employment based petition for you. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=cdfd2f8b69583210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=cdfd2f8b69583210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD or http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=13ad2f8b69583210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=13ad2f8b69583210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD

You will have to leave before your VWP expires. If not, you'll be incurring illegal presence which could lead to a ban.

Hi Nicknack! As someone who has been trying to immigrate to other countries for more than 5 years, I can tell you that unfortunately this world is not set up for regular, average people to just be able to live and work legally in the countries they love, unless they have some special circumstances like close family there, a special skill that is needed in that country's workforce, or a ton of investment income. It's a sad reality. However, you should still check out all the possible paths to immigration to the US on the USCIS website. Employment-based immigration might be your best shot, but very few jobs qualify to sponsor immigrants and the process is expensive, so usually only those with extremely desired and hard-to-find skills are able to use those paths. But no matter what, explore the options!

Long story short, we have a complicated case. We've been at this for nearly 5 years. You can read our story here. I highly recommend our attorney Laurel Scott, as well as attorneys Laura Fernandez and Lizz Cannon .

Filed I-130 via CSC in Feb 2008. Petition approved June 2008. Consular interview in Mexico, Oct 2008, visa denied, INA 212a6cii. We allege improper application of the law in this case.

2012, started over in Seoul: I-130 filed DCF on 7/2, I-130 approved 8/8, Medical at Yonsei Severance 11/20, IR1 appointment in November 2012.

CRBA filed 1-3-13 at Seoul for our daughter

If its too good to be true it usually is

You cannot extend your stay as a tourist in the VWP and you have no grounds for a green card so you have nothing to file for one

Plan on returning home in 2 months

good luck

The others are correct. The only thing you can do in the next two months is send your cv (called resumes in the USA) out, and attend interviews. If an employer really likes you, they may petition for a work visa for you, but you would need to go back to ireland and interview for it in Dublin, and you need to be highly qualified or have specialised experienced to get the visa.

On whaat basis would you apply for a green card?

Not with your qualifications, sorry. It can't just be "a mate getting you to work at his shop/ bar", you need to have qualifications and the visa process costs the employer $5000+

It's very very hard to get company sponsorship for an H1B visa unless, like others have stated, you have a very specialized skill. Some companies will do them for high level positions, but now it's getting harder and harder because the company has to prove that they can't find a qualified person with legal work authorization inside the US to do the job. Based on the high unemployment figures, it's not too easy to prove. You could try getting a job with a company in your home country or inside the EU that has offices in the US. Once you work there for a certain amount of time, you might become eligible for an L1 visa (inter company transfer).

There's no simple way for you to stay here as of now. You can't extend your time here under the VWP and whatever you do, don't overstay the date stamped in your passport or you'll incur a ban.

Immigration is a complicated part of US law. Just make sure you know what you're doing. Small, seemingly insignificant mistakes can have huge ramifications in immigration law.

Can i do this on the VWP even though it wasnt my intentions at the start to do but we wanted to?

We're young though lol, shes coming 17 and i am 19.. so yeah we're teens, we would need parents consent, but if we got it, do any of you thnk we would be dealt with differently because of our ages? or dealt with like every other married couple?

Its not as simple as just getting married… she would also need to be financially stable and the application process is few thousand dollars.
