I had my N-400 interview yesterday (14Th of November 2012) in Memphis, TN.

Does anybody know how long it takes to the oath ?

I am having my oath ceremony in Nashville, TN and will not get a name change done.

I am the spouse of a active duty soldier who is stationed in FT Campbell, KY.

My timeline so far

13. Sep 2012 Priority date

22. Sep 2012 scheduled for fingerprinting

04. Oct 2012 Fingerprinting

09. Oct 2012 scheduled for interview

14. Nov 2012 Interview

Thanks

Tanja

Hey Tanja,

I don't think anyone could give you a specific answer to your query even if one is happened to be from your town. A city like NYC, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami or any bigger city then it takes a few hours because they have to do all the paperwork there for everyone. Paperwork means- collecting Oath notice, looking for any change that occurred in applicant's situation since interview, showing the applicants their naturalization certificate to make sure all the info therein is correct, collecting GC from applicants and in the end giving applicants their naturalization certificate after the Oath. Then it also depends upon the length of Judge's speech. Some Judges tend to be into a lengthy speech as it happened when I took Oath. The Judge was Chinese decedent in NYC who took 2 and 1/2 just to give her detail of how she came to this country and then how she and her family made it out here, etc...etc...and I was like wake me up when you are done because I wanted to get the hell out of there as soon as possible to celebrate my that day with my family but we don't have that choice.

So, just have patience like you have all these years. It would be over too like any other dealings with USCIS.

I'm from Nashville, it took them to schedule me for the ceremony after 1.5 months! So you should be planning for mid-December or mid-January (keep in mind there is the Christmas and New Year holidays).
