How to Organize Proof of Having Met vs Proof of Relationship

In my I-129F packet I am sending both proof of having met in the last two years and proof of a sustained relationship and I am wondering how I should label them. Naturally these two types of proof are complimentary, so do I need to indicate which evidence proves that we met in the last two years and which proves that we have a sustained relationship? Or can I just categorize them all as "evidence?"

Thank you!

for the 1-129f you just need to provide evidence that you have met in the past 2 years. Proof of an ongoing relationship comes later.

I just filed my I-129 a few weeks ago, so bear in mind that I haven't been approved yet so I can't promise this works! But: I had the same situation, several visits in person in the last few years, plus other proof (chat logs, phone records, mailed packages) between those visits. What I did was to put everything in chronological order, and label at the bottom with small tabs, things like "met in person July 2012" and "ongoing relationship 2008-2010" etc. Each section was labeled either "ongoing relationship" or "met in person", but it was in chronological order. (There are a few pics on my profile page here.) It made for a very nice package and my NOA1 came VERY quickly, so I guess whoever disassembled my packet upon arrival didn't have much trouble knowing what to do.

Good luck!

I assume you are talking about question 18; on the form, i only wrote " please read Attachment A and B"

behind the completed I-129f, i added attachment A and then Attachment B, they look like this:

----------------------------------------------------

Attachment A:

Form I-129F, Part B, Question 18:

Explanation of Initial Meeting/ how the relationship was established:

[2 small paragraphs that describe how the relationship started. ]

( we met at work, other people meet on internet, traveling etc, explain that!!)

Supporting Evidence for the above statements is shown below:

[show various evidence that you met under these conditions ( I'm submitting pay stubs since we worked together, pictures, etc]

----------------------------------------------------

Attachment B:

Form I-129F, Part B, Question 18:

Explanation of physically meeting and seeing Fiancée within the two-year period from filing date:

[explanation of how did you meet the 2 year requirement, and/or last meeting give dates times and FACTS]

Supporting evidence that we met in person, in [HER HOME TOWN] is shown below:

[present here all evidence, dated pictures, receipts, credit card transactions, plane tickets ]

-----------------------------------------------------

Remember, the evidence should be presented to PROVE and SUPPORT your statement!!!

if you WANT[not necessary] to add more pictures, i would add it after those two attachments, that way they can get their questions answered for sure before you burry them in pictures :)

You may want to indicate which consulate you'll be interviewing at to get more relevant advice. Evidence of an ongoing relationship is not a requirement for the I-129F petition, so depending on the embassy, including it can fall anywhere on the spectrum between "absolutely crucial" and "over the top." You'll want to be sure you match your petition package to the embassy.

In our package (medium-to-difficult embassy: Nairobi, Kenya), I included all of the travel evidence in one section organized chronologically by visit, starting with the most recent. Each visit had a cover page listing the evidence presented, and behind the cover page I included several pages of photos from the trip in question (printed in color on cardstock, with captions) along with the emailed travel itinerary, the passport stamps generated on that trip (just that page of the passport), my boarding passes, my bank/credit card statements showing withdrawals/charges during that timeframe, bus tickets & hotel receipts if applicable, and any other documentation. I also made labels to put at the bottom of each page of evidence (such as "[Name]'s boarding passes, [City] to [City], [Date]") to make it absolutely clear to the adjudicator/CO what he/she was looking at. I also included a separate section for relationship evidence not related to the trips: phone/text/chat/webcam records, emails, and a few affidavits from family/friends.

Our I-129F was approved with no RFE, and the K-1 interview was very brief and pleasant with no additional relationship evidence requested, so the assembly style and evidence included must have been what the reviewers were looking for, but again, all of this varies a lot by embassy (although not during the USCIS phase).

Edit: Re-reading your question, I didn't specifically answer what you asked! I definitely mixed relationship evidence and proof of meeting in the trip documentation section, but I did label the section with the trip documentation as "Proof of meeting within the last 2 years" or something similar, so they would be sure to spot it easily.

I made a section in our petition that said "Proof of Relationship and Ongoing Relationship", made a cover page that listed everything in that section in the order that I put it together. I tried to stick to chronological, and mark it like "first trip" "second trip" etc. i put proof of ongoing because we were living together overseas and I wanted to show that type of evidence. Seemed to be fine, we were approved with no RFE and no prob at the interview.

Thank you everyone! She will be interviewing at the embassy in Sapporo, Japan. If anyone has embassy-specific advice I would be grateful to hear it. At this point I am leaning towards Kate and Javi's advice of a single cover letter listing the evidence, mainly because most of the evidence is so complementary that it would be awkward to categorize it. The evidence I will be providing is the following:

Pictures of us in Japan and America, both together and with one another’s families.

Receipts for Megumi’s plane tickets to America

Visa stamps and landing permits documenting Megumi’s multiple trips to America

Receipts for my plane tickets to Japan

Visa stamps and landing permits documenting my residence in and trips to Japan

A letter from my parents indicating their knowledge and support of my intended marriage to Megumi.

A letter from Megumi’s mother to me indicating her support of the engagement and offering advice for the ring size of the engagement ring that I later purchased for Megumi.

A translation of afore-mentioned letter from Megumi’s mother

A copy of the receipt for the engagement ring I purchased for Megumi

A copy of an apartment lease showing joint responsibility

A selection of email and chat records from 2010 to 2012

A translation of the afore-mentioned email and chat records

A selection of logs of Skype communications from 2010 to 2012

Screen Captures from my Facebook account showing our friends’ knowledge and support of our engagement

Screen Captures from Megumi’s Facebook account showing our friends’ knowledge and support of our engagement

How is this looking?
