I guess I'll be a bit patient with online status checks.

Ok now I'm a bit worried. Still no sign of mail for the biometrics appointment. Hopefully it's because of holiday shipping/ Hurricane Sandy.

Don't worry FavoredOnes! Yours should be here anytime soon now :) Also, if I were you, I would try calling the customer service number they sent on the receipt to check on your status.

Thanks! I ended calling and was on the phone for what seemed like ages but I was told that I'm already scheduled for a biometrics appointment. I was told that my appointment notice is already on the way and to follow the instructions on it, hopefully I get it soon.

Package received by USCIS lockbox on Nov 26

As on date Dec 4, received nothing, no email, SMS nor the checks were cashed.

Bit worried on the status of the application

My H1 is expiring on Dec 31.

I called USCIS toll free and was put on an endless wait for 2 hours and then I dropped off...

Can I file my h1 extension now! Will it affect my AOS

Any suggestions

Hi Nari,

From what I've been reading, when you put in the AOS paperwork, your status is 'pending' and your current visa at the time of acceptance of the package is voided. You are still considered to be here legally. I'm unfamiliar with the H visa. We submitted our paperwork in October and it was returned to us--the entire packet--because my wife forgot to sign one area of the I-485. It took them a couple of weeks to send the packet back to us, which we signed and resent the next day. They accepted the return on the 7th of November. So it took maybe just under a month to have the packet accepted by the USCIS.

Day 05 11/07 AOS Package Accepted (No online update)
Day 07 11/09 Checks cashed
Day 25 11/27 Biometrics appointment taken on date assigned
Day 26 11/28 Online status of I-485 shows RFE since 11/27, no other online updates
Day 29 12/01 RFE in hand. Requesting last year's tax return even though I sent the previous 2 yrs and current pay stub
Day 34 12/06 Appointment to expedite EAD/AP so she can get SSN to submit last year's taxes and respond to RFE
Day 34 12/06 Called after appointment failed, got told an expedite request will be submitted for EAD/AP
Day 35 12/07 Received call about our RFE/expedite process, said we should have EAD within two weeks
Day 40 12/12 Checked USCIS in the morning and the EAD is in Decision status/AP is in Post Decision
Day 45 12/17 Text of status update, online says EAD card mailed today/AP no change
Day 47 12/19 EAD/AP combo card came in the mail
Day 59 12/31 Left country for 3 weeks
Day 80 01/21 Back in US
Day 83 01/23 Applied successfully for SSN, told two weeks by mail

Also, I checked on my MSC receipt number again, no luck though. :unsure:

Things seem to move along fine on this end. Our bio metrix appointment is 12/20 ( two days befor our Christmas trip for 10 days to california !) so that worked out well for us. We hope to have an interview scheduled by end of January/early Feb.

I am waiting on my I130 to be transfered to the NBC as i had submited a single I130 originaly then decided to ASO for my wife. so from what i hear and know this shouldn't effect the processing time ( keeping my fingers crossed).

My wife's I94 expires 1/26 but she should be fine as the ASO process grants her permission to stay until the process is complete.

Day 11/20 Received Text with receipt numbers

Day 11/26 -Letter for Biometrix - its on 12/20

Day 12/20/ went to do biometrics, turn away as wife has a cut on thumb - will try to walk in next week

Day 12/28 - bio metrics done ! - walked in San Diego as we were visiting my in laws.

Day 1/4/2013 - received text/email that case is ready to be scheduled for interview !

Day 1/15/2013 - received hard copy letter to let us know interview is on 2/12 !

Day 1/17/2013 - received text/email that EAD has been approved

Day 1/26/2013 - received EAD card

Day 2/12 - interview done - approved on spot!

As bazinga said, after filing for AOS you won't have to worry about your status/ H1 extension. You're automatically considered legal as you are waiting on a pending AOS application.

About the status of your case, you might want to try calling again.

I got a receipt 14 days after I'd applied, just to give you an idea. Don't worry, as hopefully your's should be here in a few days.

Also, check this vital information. It will answer your questions. Basically when you are on H1B (and F1 visa), along with an active pending AOS application you can still choose to be on H1B and continue working on your current EAD if you apply for an extension.That way even if your AOS is denied you won't have to leave the country and can continue with your H1B. However,once you use your marriage based EAD/do not apply for an extension, your status will have changed to ''pending AOS''.That decision is upto you.

So since we are leaving in the middle of our process (see signature), we could apply for a K-3 spouse visa without cancelling our process? I will verify that at our Thursday InfoPass appointment. 240 dollars for peace of mind is worth it.

So I got my hardcopy NOA for biometrics in hand today, it was mailed out on the 28th. Apparently my landlady had it. Glad that's over.

I will attempt a walk-in, as I live not too far from the ASC. We'll see how it goes. If anyone has experience with walk-ins the 60th st Brooklyn ASC.
