WOW! What a journey!

I first want to start off by thanking everyone on this site. My wife and I just went thought the USCIS interview, and we passed. This is a huge milestone in our lives that we wouldn't have been able to overcome without the help and assistance of those on this site. There is such a wealth of information on this forum, and I will be eternally grateful and tankful that this place exists. Thank you!

Onward to my question:

Having just passed the interview, I was told my wife should receive her green card in approximately 3 weeks.

How do I go abouts obtaining a social security number for her now? Can I start filling out paperwork with the SS Admin office now, or do I have to wait for the green card to arrive? The SSA website states that I have to show them original copies of her permission to work in the US. My wife received a provisional EAD last month. Could I have started the process then?!

Thank you for your time.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Maybe I should mention: I want her Social Security Number so that I can start opening credit cards and start working on her credit.

She goes to the SS office, and applies for a number. She can get one with EAD, but better to wait until she has GC so they update her LPR status with their records.

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
