Arrived Warsaw Poland today, with high hopes of paying my Visa Fee and tomorrow making and interview appointment. WRONG!!!!!

I exchanged money and went to the First Bank Pocztouy, they no longer do that there. They sent me to a second Bank same story and well as the third one. But at the third bank I was given the correct bank which is located in the main Post Office of Warsaw. The post office is opened 24/7 but the little Bank closes at 1700 hrs 5pm and I arrived there at 1707 hrs.The gentleman there did let me come in and would except the paper work, but I did not have my fiancee's Passport number. So I have to return tomorrow with that info and let the man in the bank fill out the form in his computer and go next door to the Post Office and pay the fee and return with the receipt when paid to the little man in the bank, who then gives me the receipt with the proper numbers I will need the next day after 1200 (noon) to call in and make an interview for the next business day. I don't think it has to be so complicated? It does not give you an address of a bank on the Embassy web site just the banks web site which is in Polish. Why can't the Embassy give the address everyone goes to Warsaw from Belarus and this bank/post office is just down the street from the embassy. I'll be glad when this is over)) But believe me she is worth it;-))

Sorry to hear about all the troubles/frustration you are having. It was so much easier when you could just get the appointment, pay at the embassy, and pick up the passport the next day at the embassy. I wish you the best of luck.

Thanks for the support, in a way this is much faster. If the Embassy would just tell you exactly where to go. If anyone from Belarus needs the exact address just ask and I'll send it. So the bank opens at 0900 and I have a Taxi waiting at 0900 to take me there and tomorrow after 1200 will make the interview appointment for Monday and pick up the approved Visa on Tuesday. I understand the pick up point is across town in a different district and I should take a taxi there and have him wait because of lack of taxi's in that part of town. Wish us well and a speedy approval. Ron

Hey Ron,

We're about to go through the nightmare you just finished. If you have the exact address of the bank I need to pay at, it would be amazing, thanks! Oh, and probably a stupid question, but this bank allowed you to pay for your fiancee's interview. Did they also allow you to pay for her visa there, or did you need to do that at a different bank? Thanks for any advice!

Jason

You know, if it was easy then everyone would be doing it. After all, haven't we all found the wife of our dreams in a FSU country.

You need to understand that all governments, no matter which country, have to justify their oversized employment by making sure everyone in the government has something to do. Just think of it as a make work system.

It sounds like you are on the tail end of everything and just a few more hoops to jump through. Hang in there a little more, it's almost over.

Not Ron but I talk to him frequently. I am planning on having a Feb. interview and going thru the same process. I don't know the exact address of the bank right now but I know he had to go to the main Post office in Warsaw to pay. The interview payment is the visa payment so you will not have to go to another bank. You make the payment one day and get a reciept. You schedule the interview the second day. The third day you have the interview and the following day you can pick up the visa, if everything goes well. You could also have someone in Warsaw pay the interview for you prior and save a couple days in Poland if you trust them. Hope this helps.

Hi Jason, the address is Swietokrzyska 31/33 it is the main post office building you enter and go thru the door on the right and on the right is an office. Just show them your printed reciept and they know what to do, you will need the complete name and issue and expiration date of passport. Then they give it back and you must go back out to the lobby and enter the door on the left which is the post office where you pay. They give you back the receipt and you go back to the little office and the man will hand write a number on it. This number will be needed the next day making an appointment (not what the embassy site says) In the morning (one minute afternoon) call and you will be asked for this # and be given an appointment. You will be sent an email conformation that MUST be printed out WITH the bar code, to be shown at interview for entry. I carried my laptop and had the lady at the embassy wait until I recieved it before I let her hang up. Then went to a internet cafe and printed it out. If you are not staying in a hotel (apartments are the way to go) you will need to take an unblocked cell phone with you that uses a sim card. I did not have one so I bought a cheap one for around $30 and the sim card cost (player brand) cost $9. and I got a lot of talk time out of it.

Anymore questions just ask and I'll try to help. Warsaw is a great place for a few days and a lot to see cheap prices on food and clothes we stayed 9 days and had a great time.

Hope this helps, Ron

Hey Ron!

Yeah, that's good information! I'll be sure to take my laptop as well, go to a internet cafe, and print the email with bar code from there. Once you paid, and had the email with barcode, is there any trouble getting an appointment? I mean, are they limited in slots? I guess I'll be buying a phone there also. I agree, apartments are nicer to have than a hotel room and I'm looking forward to some time in Warsaw. Did you rent the appartment by the week or day? Thanks for all the help Ron!

-Jason
