Hi everyone, I would like to ask you guys if it's okay to apply for a SSN using my married name since I got married already. Is it enough to show them our temporary marriage certificate for now?

Anybody here had experienced this especially in hawaii, pls help! thank you!!!!

Yes in fact I waited until we were married to get a SSN, just to avoid the hassle of having to go twice to the SSN office

My wife waited until we were married before applying for her SSN, SSA requires a certified copy of the marriage certificate.

You can apply for a Social Security number until two weeks before your I-94 expires. After that, you'll have to wait for your EAD or green card.

I don't know if the Social Security office will accept anything other than a certified marriage certificate. A few days after Chinook and I were married, we picked up a few copies of our certified marriage certificate from the county. Chinook used our certified marriage certificate to change her name on her Social Security card.
