I'll not ever forget overhearing three people in a restaurant, four years ago, the day after Obama was elected. "Well, they had to let one of THEM be President eventually" said one of the men. A younger guy, by the way, and looking well dressed and educated.

You tell me what that means.

Pretty clear what that means - the President is NOT one of us. He's different. Not really American. It's the birthers and the birthers are driven by one thing - the fact that the Preisdent is Black.

It's out there as I mentioned before. No doubt about it, and it is baffling. What's more baffling is those that try to make racism one sided as if it never happens to a white president. Regardless, race is no concern to me.

Ok, Ill bite, when has someone of color pointed a finger at any other president in a disrespectful tone like this:

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/700219771/Brewers-wagging-finger-at-Obama-reopens-civility-debate.html?pg=all

And the Birther thing, it's funny how that went down, but almost 10 years ago, this happened: http://seattletimes.com/html/nationworld/2002036961_amendment16.html

Now I know that there were plenty of black people who couldn't stand Bush, but show me a time when a black congressman or black Governor, someone in a postition of power flat out disrespected any President. Hell the only one I can give you is Kayne West, and he just said what was on his mind, he didn't call him out of his name or scream at him to his face like Joe Wilson.

Federal government spending - the measure for the size of government - has grown more slowly under this President than under several Presidents past - including The Gipper.

I would hope so. But it is still growing, and we are still sustaining record deficits, are we not? We don't worry so much about how we got here, but rather where we are going, especially after four years of virtually doing nothing to solve the problem, and creating a new entitlement that by any reasonable measure, will and has made the economic situation worse.

The states aren't supporting the Fed. It's more the other way around in many cases.

If you live in Alaska, yes. If you live in California, you are paying more in federal taxes than the federal government is returning to the state, not to mention all the extra costs the state is incurring, because the Federal government will not do its job.

The economic situation is better, not worse. The President offered a grand bargain on the deficit, Boehner actually wanted to take it but the Tea Party Freaks frustrated any chance to fix anything. It will be different this time. Republicans will accept a deal much less favorable to their preferences than what Obama had put on the table a couple of years ago. They gambled and they lost. It's what happens when you let Tea Baggers run the show in your caucus. ;)

Generally speaking, if you live in a red state, you're sucking off the federal teat. If you are living in a blue state, you're providing the lifeline for the red teat suckers.

Good. My point is that no matter how many apology tours Obama will go on, some places will still hate America. It's impossible for America to wipe the slate clean.

The irony is that looking at some of the posts in this thread it becomes obvious that much of the hate of which you speak is internal and directed at the entire country in the wake of the landslide win of the POTUS in the recent elections. Friendly fire apparently....

By what measure? I am still not generating the same income under Obama that I did at any time under GWB.

I think it varies depending on the industry in which you are, and your ability to keep up with the market rather than who is in the WH.

Remember, government does not create jobs and you built your business on your own, so if you are seeing less-than-desirable performance you need to look at the same person at whom you look when business is good.

I guess I will just have to take your word for it, then?

Why my word? Try data.

DJIA 01/21/2009: 8,228

DJIA 11/14/2012: 12,756 (+55%)

Jobs created Jan 2009: -800K

Jobs created Oct 2012: +200K (that's a million jobs a month better)

GDP growth Q4/2008: -9%

GDP growth Q3/2012: +2%

Just because you can't make the same money you were making 4 years ago doesn't mean the economy is worse today than it was then. It just means that you may need to rethink your business or whatever it is that you derive your income from.
