NVC completion timeframes

I understand that the NVC takes 20 days to review a file once it enters their system. I have even called and got an answer directly from them saying that it NEVER takes more than 20 days.

My question is, once they have everything, does it still take 20 days? In my case they would have received all of the documents by November 5th,2012 supporting documents included. Is there a chance that it could have been done by the end of that week, being that the 5th was a Monday?

Another question, once the case is completed, I understand they mail out the package, is there some kind of email notification so that we aren't sitting on pins and needles waiting for the interview letter to come in the mail? I have been checking various timeframes here on VJ and I just can't seem to pinpoint what the length of my current waiting period is. Any help would be appreciated

hello, you must remember they talk about 20 "working" days, if they received the package November 5th. you are looking to a December 5th processing date, but yes they don't take that long.In my case it took 2 weeks after receiving the package to get the actual interview letter from the NVC. You will not receive any notification from them sending out any package, unless you get a RFE. They send the package to the consular unit that will conduct the interview but, the NVC will schedule the interview. Good Luck
