Today is a biggggggg day, finally we achieve our dream. Thank you very very much all the members of VJ who make the journey tolerable. I will update detail about the interview later on review part. It was really simple, they even don't want to see any picture. :dance::dance::dance:

Just a small question, do I have to carry the Xray at POE?

08/12/2011 ----- Received an email from the embassy "Case is pending review by a consular officer"

Congrats :-) :-). Yes for some it is a easy walk (for the females) and for some it turns out to be a horror show. Glad that it was easy for you.

For POE, keep all the documents (copies) with you. The package/envelop that you will get us supposed to have documents for POE but there can always be little mistakes like missing photos, signature here and there or what not. Why look for little extra headache, get ready and keep all application related docs and few extra passport/stamp size photo, if the embassy did not keep the medical reports and you still have the copies just carry them with yourself and you should be safe (hopefully). It's just dealing with another bump/interview (lot simpler than the others) and is pretty certain. Have a hassle free POE.

I would like to share the nightmare that just started with my friend. On Nov 12th, 2012 she went for the visa interview at Dhaka US Embassy as a spouse of a US citizen. Everything went really well, they had all the papers they needed, she answered a few questions and they gave her a slip and asked her to come back next day after 2 PM to pick up the visa. So, she did. She saw everyone else that interviewed with her picking up their visa, when her name was called, she was given a blue paper that basically says "additional processing' under 221(g) section. They kept her passport and noted down her phone number and told her that they will contact her. When she asked for specifics of what the problem is - they could not say anything. When she asked how long it would take, again, they had no specifics. Does anyone know what is this all about? I am hearing investigation, I am hearing security check, what is really going on here?

If your friend is a male it is not very uncommon and AP is pretty standard, if its a she, again it's not something that never happens. One should be ready for anything. The length of AP can be from few weeks to few months (even 6+) depending on the complexity and search type but this certainly does not mean a rejection. If the candidate has nothing to worry about and is not a criminal of any sort, hold tight as this is going to be a waiting game. Keep the fingers crossed and after few months the petitioner can start reaching out to local congressman, senator for an answer (if it is delayed that long) for some info on the status. There is no reason to give up hope and get killed with the stress. An applicant should be aware of this sort of bumps........ Be prepared for the worst.....

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

USCIS stage ( 66 days)
10/12/2012: NOA 1
12/17/2012: NOA 2 (case was transferred to NYC office 11/27/12)
NVC stage ( 20 days)
01/08/2013: Case # and IIN assigned ( file arrived NVC mail room 12/20/12)
01/09/2013: AOS invoiced and paid, DS-3032 emailed and mailed.
01/16/2013: IV invoiced &paid. AOS & IV mailed in one package(arrived 01/18).
01/28/2013: Case complete!!!
04/19/2013: Interview; APPROVED!!!!!
05/13/2013: POE; JFK

N-400: (3 months and 12 days)
