What was great in my husband's case was he got caught in some weird point of German law where if you have gotten or renewed a passport between the ages of 18-24, it was only good for 5 years. Of course, he was 22 when he did it. So he had to drive up to Chicago from Indy in 2008 to have it renewed. We made a weekendish vacation out of it and spent some time on the Wisconsin coast, just in time for (Hurricane) Ike. I believe Seattle has a field office, so I don't think we will have to trek to San Francisco, which is where the next consulate is. Not sure I would be upset if we had to, beyond the cost of airfare. I have never been to SF.

It isn't cheap to marry foreigners. I sometimes am *jealous* of my brother. He is engaged to a naturalized US citizen from Laos. Laos does not allow dual citizenship, so she lost it upon naturalization. No more immigration nonsense period.

Making a little bit more money year to year can reduce your refunds quite a bit. Ask me how I know. :crying: Did you make more consecutive years?

34.4k for 2012

27.8k for 2011

16k for 2010 while getting married and getting the earned income deduction allowed for that huge 2400 refund.

My mistake in 2010 it was the making work pay credit, not the EIC

The local news just posted a picture of this, which looks like it is coming out of the end of my road where I lived in CT. I miss it soooo much.

Sorted out all my opaque black tights this morning before work. I have seven pairs, which is comforting because I have a pair to wear every day. One pair had a strange almost greeny tinge to it that I had never noticed before. I still like them.

The transit authority is building a new metro station at the end of my street, which in theory I am very happy about since I will eventually be able to take the metro downtown and drink with giddy abandon with my male BFF, but in reality the construction is adding up to 10 minutes to my commute every morning. I had to wait 8 minutes today to turn left onto the main street because of the detour. I admit to having a rageaholic moment during those 8 minutes, during which I beat my fists on the steering wheel and said some Very Not Nice Words about the transit authority, LA drivers and pedestrians.

I just discovered my husband has a perfect set of wisdom teeth! I didn't think that ever happened.

I still have all my wisdom teeth. and no cavitites either..

Oh wow!

I'm 26 and I have 6 root canals with crowns on them, one of which we are waiting out to do an implant. My husband is the same way though and goes every 3 months to get checked for cavities.

I think part of the no cavity thing has to do with the fact that we hardly drank soda growing up. maybe once a month at McD's or at Birthday parties. Also in elementary school, once a week we had to do a fluoride rinse thing ..

Yeah, that would be it - my mother never made me use toothpaste and I drank soda all the time. My husband's parents used to give him lemonade in his baby bottle. He had to have several teeth pulled on his 6th birthday because they were so rotten.

Parenting makes all the difference.
