There is a trend and it will only accelerate as the party does take the huge gamble of creating even more Hispanic voters...

Danno, the demographic trend exists regardless of what the GOP decides to do. There will be more hispanic voters in 2014 than there were in 2012 and yet more in 2016 than there will be in 2014 and so on and so forth. That train has long left the station and you ain't going to stop it.

What changes do you suggest that will add to turn-out for the GOP?

They need to realize that they actually have to make an effort to talk to and worth WITH minorities. Their white male vote isn't enough to put them into the White House anymore.

[quote name=^_^' timestamp='1352822675' post='5819340]I wouldn't go too far with that. Libs were saying the same thing after analyzing the 2008 exits and voila, the GOP invented the Tea Party and they came roaring back in 2010.

Low turnout mid-terms. That's where the tea party was able to make a dent. And since it has actually hurt the GOP. It cost them control of the US Senate which they would have had by now if they hadn't let the Tea Party send crazies and incompetents - and witches - into the running.

Not really. Attitudes have changed and shifted. Look at marriage equality. Look at immigration. Look at tax policy. These are not swings of a pendulum, these are actual shifts in attitude. Republicans in office know this which is why you will see a shift in the party. They will do immigration reform. They will raise taxes. They will silence the crazies. They will do this or their support will not be asked or needed after 2014.

On some of the social issues sure. But taxation and immigration policy are cyclical. For immigration, look back to some of the policies of the 19th century.

On taxation, rates were cut through to the 1920s before ratcheting up to a peak in the 40s. Now we've seen tax drops for 70s years the rates will go up again...and i'm sure 30 years from now the GOP will be successful in lowering them again. Once you get away from something for so long you forget how good/bad it was.

Parties adjust to social issues. The democrats were pro-slavery pro-segregation etc. Then by about the time of Harry Truman (perhaps because of him) the party did an about face.

Don't expect her to give a straight answer to that question. In order for her to do that she would have to actually know something about politics and the economy.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I'm sorry, what do these insults have to do with the discussion at hand? Nothing? Excellent. Reported. :)

Report all you want. Now how about you answer his question for once. Iv'e asked you the same question along with other questions in regards to politics yet you never seem to deliver. People that choose to post in this forum usually have at least a basic concept of politics yet you pretty much choose to spam the same thing over and over and over without ever giving anything viable in return.

btw in order to "discuss a subject" a person would have to have at least a basic knowledge of said subject.

With your attitude, why would I bother? What will I say that you'll actually respond to? Nothing. You'll continue to tell me how little I know about anything and act superior and walk away still thinking you're in the right and I'm in the wrong. What part of that is supposed to convince me to give you more than I have?

Others have given plenty of well thought out answers. Those get responded to in the same way. I can't penetrate the bubble you've surrounded yourself with so I'm not attempting to try anymore.

Yeah, that attitude right there. Not working for me. Good luck. :)

If you guys still don't get it, you never will. I'm a minority and a Democrat and we've exchanged enough messages here on VJ on this topic... if you still don't get it, you never will. What's the point?

She's been asked that question more than a few times by a few posters on here for the fact she continues to spam the same drivel over and over. Now I can spam pics of race cars and hot chicks in this forum all day long seven days a week, or I can do it in OT.

I've responded numerous times. You don't get it. That's fine.

I've mentioned that it's an attitude that needs to be changed. But you will not be satisfied until I come up with an entire program.

Danno asked you a question now please answer it.

I'll answer it just like I have all the other posts: When the GOP stops being racist, homophobic, and misogyny towards women then that's a start. But they are too busy blaming everything else to see what the real problem is.

“Hate is too great a burden to bear. It injures the hater more than it injures the hated.” – Coretta Scott King

"Oppressive language does more than represent violence; it is violence; does more than represent the limits of knowledge; it limits knowledge." -Toni Morrison

He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it.
