Hi everyone! I appreciate any replies to my concerns about " Adjustment of Status"

I came here in Hawaii with K1 visa last Oct 30 and got married on the 9th of Nov. Now I'm preparing all the documents needed for AOS. I have plenty of questions and I'm hoping you can help me guys.

1. Do I need to find a civil surgeon and have another shots of immunization?

2. We will apply for AOS, AP and EAD at the same time, How much do we need to pay?

3. Do I need to get SSN first before applying for AOS?

Your reply is highly appreciated guys! Thank you...... Evelyn

Welcome to the forum.

There is a wealth of information in the step-by- step Adjustment of Status (AOS) K-1/K-3 Guide, easily accessible in the Guides section, hit the "Guides" button at the top of the forum page.

Another good source is the AOS (Green Card) from Family Based Visas Forum: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/7-adjustment-of-status-green-card-from-family-based-visas/

Good luck on your immigration journey.

We are also in preparing for our AOS right now,

Yes you should find CS to update your medical record and to see if you need shots, they need to sign the medical sheet that you have,

I already have appointment for my CS next-week.

You pay 1070$for the AOS, EAD,AP.

I also have SNN, number..

better if you have SNN while your I94 it's not expired yet..

Good-luck,

FYI: you can look up the Guides in this site...

1. It depends if you were missing some required vaccinations at the time of your K-1 medical. If your medical was done less than a year ago, and that you met all the vaccination requirement, no need to see a civil surgeon. If you were missing some, go see a civil surgeon, get the missing shots, and the CS will file in Part I of the I-693 + the vaccination page, and put everything in a sealed envelope that you would include in your AOS/EAD/AP packet.

2. EAD an AP fees are waived when filed with AOS. So total is $1,070. Read the USCIS instructions for those forms.

3. Not needed to file for AOS, but AOS-apart, get a SSN as soon as possible, it will be done.

YES, YOU WILL NEED TO FIND A CIVIL SURGEON TO COMPLETE THE I-693, GUYS PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG. ADDITIONAL SHOTS MAY OR MAY NOT BE NEEDED DEPENDING ON YOUR AGE. IT WOULD ALSO BENEFIT YOU IF YOU HAVE ANY PRIOR RECORDS OF ANY IMMUNIZATIONS/SHOTS YOU MAY HAVE HAD TO PRESENT TO THE CIVIL SURGEON.

2. We will apply for AOS, AP and EAD at the same time, How much do we need to pay?

TOTAL COST SHOULD BE $1,070, WHICH INCLUDE BIOMETRICS. I AM SURE IF I AM INCORRECT MANY OTHER "ROCKET SCIENTISTS" HERE ON VJ WILL CORRECT ME!

Your reply is highly appreciated guys! Thank you...... Evelyn

Best of luck!

Since their medicals were done at St. Lukes, and since St. Lukes usually gives them all the age-appropriate vaccinations necessary to adjust their status, technically they don't need to go to a civil surgeon. Instead, technically, they could submit their DS-3025's they received from St. Lukes with their AOS packet and would not have to submit an I-693 filled out by a civil surgeon.

However, there have been reports here on VJ from people who submitted their DS-3025 and did not submit an I-693 who subsequently received an RFE for their I-693 from the USCIS. I think it would safer to have a civil surgeon transcribe their DS-3025's onto I-693's and submit them with their AOS packet. The cost of the civil surgeon's transcription service should run about $30-50 apiece.

You will probably have to shop around for a civil surgeon to find one who knows the drill. It seems that few of them understand what's needed for a K-1'er. Some of them try to sell you a physical exam or shots that aren't needed.
