Hi everyone ! I need to know few things

I left the USA after my husband filed for annulment . I didn't sign any papers or anything . So I want to know what does happen after 30 day respond period ? Do we get annulled automatically ?is there anyway to know status of annulment ?

I read on few sites that I can keep my green card but I won't be able to get the 10 year one . Is it true ? I don't want to believe it but its better to ask something rather than staying confused . So if he didn't report to uscis what are my chances for getting a visitor visa ?

I will be filing for divorce in few month in my own country . He wasn't worth a tear. I hate him and I can never think of being with anymore

Why would you leave because he filed annulment? You should stay and fight. As long as you know that you married him in good faith.Alot of US citizens are doing this when things are not working out in the marriage. If you run away, you look like you are hiding something and he is right.my thoughts to you is to return and fight and clear your name.Stop thinking about the Greencard and if you can visit the US again.Clear your name

Divorce and annulment are two very different things. Are you sure he filed for an annulment and not a divorce?

(Annulment is a legal procedure for declaring a marriage null and void. Unlike divorce, it is usually retroactive, meaning that an annulled marriage is considered to be invalid from the beginning almost as if it had never taken place)

If you want to keep your GC you should fight the annulment and get a divorce instead.

When someone files for a divorce or annulment, they serve the other party and typically if the other party fails to respond the judge will proceed by default. Meaning the divorce or annulment can go through with out you being there. You can contact the court that served you the original papers to find out the status of the case/ ask for an extension, or obtain copies of what was done. (if youre not sure of what court it was or you dont have the papers, it would be the court in whatever county you and husband previously lived in)

This thread talks about what happens if you get a DIVORCE with a conditional GC. You dont have to leave the US.

however an annulment is a completely different thing, because like I said, it makes the marriage disappear.
