Sent my K1 in and was accepted at USCIS on Oct. 17. have done quite a bit of research on the web but i do have a question. My fiance is in the Dominican Republic and she has a child 3 years old the father has never been in the child's life but the fathers name is on the birth certificate. My question is what would be the best way to go about handling this situation. To have a consent form drawn up but she doesn't have any idea where the father is or couldn't she just have a judge deem the child abandoned. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Filed: K-1 Visa Country: Ukraine
Timeline

In the Ukraine a notarized letter was required from the father to allow the child to leave the country, but there were some exceptions. I suggest going to the embassy's website and looking. Good luck

You will have to contact an attorney in the DR to have the child deemed abandoned. Here is the website to a law firm that a lot of expats use in the DR they have offices all over the island. They will be able to tell you what is the best way to go. Best of luck to you!
