I do not mean to whine or b!tch, but have any of you experienced hearing some fooked up weird chit from relatives regarding your fiance? I met my fiance online and I am not embarrassed about that, now 2 weeks before I leave my country I keep hearing stupid chit from relatives and friends (i.e. you dont know him that well...he could be a criminal...are you desperate yada yada?) I know I am venting and I am so sorry. I just got royally p!ssed off when my uncle asked me if he could do a background check (intelius). Am I being sensitive?

How about the one that your boyfriend is a terrorist and they are going to kidnap you (while you are overseas visiting) and put a bomb in your koochie to blow up when you return? Probably some racism and some fear of the unknown involved here. It is normal to want to protect your family from hurt and scams and we hear,generally, of the bad and not the good.

Man, you beat me! That one is over the top. The only chit I heard was "your white boyfriend will put insurance on you and then cut you into small pieces and place you in your luggage...literally...actually, the carry on."

My favourite is still...your bf could be a cult member and who knows he might end up convincing you that the end is near and you will both do a gainers off your roof or drink kool aid mixed with potassium chloride.

Your fiance is white, American ergo he is going to go postal on you.

I understand the desire to protect, but if it is too much...it gets old really fast. I would probably be cool about it if it came from my parents...but no, it came from relatives!

your relatives are just concerned about your welfare that doesnt make them racists. alot of online dating end up horribly wrong for women. BE CAREFUL.

My first husband - when we were engaged and he met my extended family for the first time, after we left the house they made up lies and told everyone he runs a porn-based website and that both of us review porn movies. They had been drinking that night and my fiance had told them he ran a horror movie website that reviewed horror movies. It didn't matter to them though, they still continued with their lies; after all, I'd met him online and they'd never seen me with a boyfriend before! (their words, seriously)

To the OP: you're allowed to vent, I don't blame you.
