I agree that the extreme of this message is usually sugar coated a bit from the pulpit. However I have not ever been around a bunch of bible thumpers that sooner or latter a rabid position on homosexuals does not suffer.

I was in one of the larger churches in a medium size town here in GA a few years back. The preacher was always talking about the homosexual agenda and even said one day "God hates Faggots". The fundamental right is on a crusade against homosexuals. Like it or not it's true.

"I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this happen.'" Falwell on 9-11

Pat Robertson On Homosexuality: It's Related To A Type Of 'Demonic Possession'

EW ORLEANS -- A day after electing their first African-American president, Southern Baptists on Wednesday overwhelmingly passed a resolution opposing the idea that gay rights are the same as civil rights. The resolution adopted at the denomination's annual meeting in New Orleans affirms Southern Baptists' beliefs that marriage is "the exclusive union of one man and one woman" and that "all sexual behavior outside of marriage is sinful."

It acknowledges that gays and lesbians sometimes experience "unique struggles" but declares that they lack the "distinguishing features of classes entitled to special protections."

"We deny that the effort to legalize 'same-sex marriage' qualifies as a civil rights issue since homosexuality does not qualify as a class meriting special protections, like race and gender," the resolution says.

My friend I appreciate your opinion and I don't mean to dwell on just one word but that one word (Cancer) was Germain to the whole thrust of the post.

Historically speaking, the Homosexual, up until the last few decades has always been seen as a "deviant".... it was clearly seen as contrary to the design of nature and God.

You are suggesting that today, right now, the typical Christian is view now beyond that ... that now it would if possible "round them up" and worse when

in the past ... they never made any such move. You have not show where this is true.

YOu have not given anything but a Youtube vid to show a "cancer" is growing..... that the Right in fact would be persecuting homosexuals in ways that we never have seen before.

You have been had,

Think about, up until a few decades ago this country (and most of Western history) was monolithically a Christian based society, in some regions it was what you would consider "fanatical" yet we never saw any great persecution of Homosexuals, they were simply

A.not recognized as normal.

B. And on rare occasions prosecuted for "Crimes against nature" ...usually in conjunction with another crime.

Look I get that we are now a Honey Boo Boo nation, that 98% percent of our reality and information comes to us through imagery and I get that, I also realize there is a huge effort going on to transform opinion on this topic, so much so that homosexuals (3-4%) of the population is now inserted in 38% of ABC's new programing and always in a positive light.

So we have this multi-billiondollar" rehabilitation" going on of the public perception of Gay folks.. yet even with all that you

believe Gays are thought of less kind today in Christian circles... than in 1950.

Get serious, there is no growing cancer.

This is the Cancer that infects the GOP. Amazing. I support his right to say it, but damn no wonder people are turned off. He does not represent the avg Republican I know but we have to root them out.

This is the type of thinking that is burying the GOP, and the people that claim it doesn't exist are just as much the problem.

You know that somewhere, there are videos of this preacher doing the nasty with farm animals, or something equivalent, there always is. Hypocritical beatnicks.

Unfortunately I believe this to be true, it's not a civil rights issue since no rights are infringed on. Marriage has been defined as between Man and Woman since the beginning, it's the one thing that close to all of the religions agree on. It wasn't a law passed to stop gays from being together, it's because man and woman can reproduce and carry on the human race.

Now I can't say you're born gay or not, because there is yet anything proven either way, and I think that gays should be able to enjoy the same privileges as any couple that love each other and are married. But there wasn't/any legislation passed to keep them down, you will never see "no Gays allowed" signs, or "straights only". And like Michael Steele said, when I walk into a room, you know I'm black, if you walk into a room, I won't know you 're gay unless you tell me.

If two gay people who love each other do not have the same rights under the law that two straight people have then they are not equal under the law.

Apparently in Danno's world, the Republican party is working just as intended. No problems there. Good thing actual Republicans don't agree with him, that means there's a chance they'll fix it.

Aside from the fact that religions do not really agree on marriage being between a man and a woman, even if they did, who cares? Ever heard of the separation of church and state? Honestly, I don't give a ** what any given religion considers a marriage. I do care about the fact that the state should not withhold the benefits of marriage granted to heterosexual couples from homosexual persons.

i agree that both should get the same benefits, but gays never went through what AA went through in the terms of segregation, that was what my comment was based on.

I did not say it is not better than the 1950's but most if not all fundamental Christian organization see homosexuals as a threat to their families and way of life. You know just a few decades ago Black people could not go to the same school I went to in my state and most Christians were a-ok with that .

That's why I said in my earlier post that they should get the same rights.

Then we agree.. I really think the state should just get out of the marriage business all together.

It's not the same and yet it is all very similar.

And that's why I say they should get the same bennies, it wasn't on the same scale but discrimination is still the same even if you change the spelling.
