this was the same letter we submiited to the usics and it was approved.i didnt coach her on writtin the letter infact i neva saw the letters untill wen my wife sent to it to me prior to my interview.so it was neva writen or coached by me.i showed her other proofs but she ignored to look at it only stating that the letter was not written by an american.

Sometimes they bluff and toy with you to see your reaction. Sometimes it seems they say bizzare things before placing you on AP.

Your wife needs to email Lagos and state that no one but she herself wrote it and she can send an additional letter from the

person who notarized it and have that notarized too.

She didn't take the time to look at your evidence because her mind was already made up to put you in AP.

Not strange at all that wife's family didn't attend. Not everyone has the money for that expensive trip. Not everyone has passports. I know my fam couldn't afford it and I wouldn't be able to pay it for them. Some have a ceremony over there for his fam and another in the states for the others fam. I agree Lagos is out of control. But maybe there were other reasons too. But so what if her family didn't attend. Is that now a requirement too??? You should have told them it was too expensive.

I agree TJandJR, as you and everyone have stated...not everyone can afford to bring family on an already expensive flight, not to mention hotel bills, food, etc. My mother and children did not go with me in 2008, besides I would have had to drug my mom to even get near the plane. I did, however, get a signed and notarized statement from her and close friends (which I wrote and they signed). Perhaps if your wife's mom is still living she can obtain a letter from her (as well as other close family members) ...explaining about why she could not attend and about knowing about your relationship.

I am not sure, though, but home visits were made during AP(your family home)? If so, now would be the time to get YOUR family/friends up to speed about your wife and marriage.

I don't have any advice for the OP and I wish I did. I just want to say Lagos is getting scarier and scarier. I was going to send letters to my fiance for the interview from my family and suggest his eldest brother (father deceased) write one too, all knowing and approving of our relationship. It was an afterthought and too late to include in the petition. Now I'm scared to. Even if I send my family's in with petition. They may say they are fake or say it is new evidence not previously known. What's up with those crazy people. They are scaring me and we are a bonafide couple.

Wow. This is news to me that the CO's can now ascertain where a formal letter was written. In my own case, my husbands family all came down for the wedding because they were all really excited about it and could afford it. But that being said, not everyone can. About writing, when I'm informal, I'm very sure it's obvious that I'm Nigerian, but when I'm formal, I doubt if someone can tell. Unless Its the difference between American English and British English( Nigerians having been raised with british English) like color and colour. Center and centre, pants and trousers and so on. Maybe if another letter will be written, it should be such that it's authenticity cannot be doubted.
