Does the Embassy require a new passport in her married name for the interview?

We will have a lot of evidences to establish a matrimony but will they want to look at this also?

Thanks in advance.

No its not required. And it's only important as far as name on Visa and GC.

Here's some other ides just in case:

Getting joint bank accounts when you go to Nigeria just add each other. CapitalOne Credit card will issue her a card also when you open an account

Case Complete to Interview spreadsheet

From now on your VJ Member name will be verified. If the name you put on form to be added to spreadsheet comes up not found, you will not be added to the spreadsheet. If you don't have a timeline you will not be added to the spreadsheet.

Please Please put your VJ member name only. Not nicknames or real names whatever your VJ name is. It's below your profile picture!!

I do appreciate the other ideas so keep them coming.

We will be adding each other to our Skye Bank accounts. There's additional stuff I will be adding her to once I get back here.

Re C1, do you mean credit card or bank account? Still not sure how the lack of SSN will work though I intend to take a W7 with me. The other issue is IRS requires the Embassy to certify the copy of the Passport and I am not sure if she's ready to go back there.

CapitalOne Credit card (trying my own self rebuilding my jacked credit). But when I called I requested a card for husband they asked his name and I got it in a week.

Also that Bluebird by American Express you can add whoever you want no SS# required either.

Adding her to your insurance, Car, health Gym.

I appreciate you.

I couldn't do it on the web but I called and you suggested and it works. So I'll be able to hand her the card in person instead of sweating it in the mail.

Re credit, as a victim of a divorce impacted credit file, the CO discussed my credit rating with my Fiancee so prepare your Husband for that. Just in case.

And whats really cool her using the card in Nigeria during this process creates great evidence of spousal support.

One thing do call CapitalOne before you go to Nigeria and tell them that said card will be used in Nigeria so they don't block or lock the account (I had all kinds of issues with my ETRADE card with that and I told them ahead of time). Just a heads up.

We tried to open a joint account in Nigeria when I was there in September and were not successful I needed to have a Nigerian passport or some type of residence there. Unfortunetly we didnt have alot of time because we waited til the last day of my visit to try and get this done. So make sure you do that early so you wont have an issue getting a joint account.

I could not add my husband to my bank account prior to interview because was not present in the US yet and because he did not have a SS number. However, I was able to add him as the beneficiary of my account and was able to obtain a notarized letter from the bank stating the fact that he could not be added....reason why...and that he is the full beneficiary of my account as my husband. I front loaded this letter at the NVC stage.

ALSO, add her to your car insurance and if you are renting, see if you can add her to your lease. The more accounts she is on with you, the better it looks as a married couple. Front load it all in a folder that says, evidence of a bonafied relationship - joint accounts.
