Delhi Flight Qs

Okay so this weeek I will be flying to India, Delhi international airport. I will arrive at 235am....

So instead of having to endure another 6 hour drive to my inlaws residence. I would rather prefer to take a domestic flight and fly to Chandiagar.

I have tried this two years ago in India, however, the airport was still under construction. So I have a horrid memory or transfering to international to domestic with all my luggage.

But would some one tell me if they transfered from an international flight to a domestic flight in Dehli, and if so how was it?

And would you recommend me to do this? I'm traveling alone, so any advice would help.

I honestly don't want to sit through a 6 hour car trip....

The airport is sooooooooo much nicer now that all the construction is done. It will all depend on who you are flying out with [some domestic flights are super easy to catch, others are not]. You may need to change terminals which is still a hassle since the only option is by bus. How long do you think your layover will be? As long as you have the time to get through the immigration lines [now there are a ton] and get to the domestic area you need it won't be that bad. Oh, and don't fly Kingfisher - assuming they even get their papers back they are a HOT mess right now.

THanks the layover would have been until I could have caught the next avaliable flight. However, I decided against it. Too much of an hassle....

I decided to opt for the bus service...Ac, reclining seats, no stops,(500rps).....Buses run every 30 minutes so I would get one right away....

I can hire a taxi service from inside the airport, at an affordable pre-paid fee......

But my question is, will it be safe for a woman transfering from the airport to the bus stand, at 3am? I mean do you think the taxi driver would help me with my luggage, and or help me with the bus service?

I kind of want to surprise my husband....By the time I end up in Chandigar it will be no later than 830am. So the sun will be rising....

Or should I just not take any chances and have my husband pick me up?

I apologize, taking the bus from Chandigar to Delhi International was very easy...However from Dehli international was a differnt journey all together...Pre-paid taxi driver dropped us off outside the Dehli bus stand...It was a nightmare....Under construction so many people....And in the middle of night too....My husband and I had to wait along time to get a ticket...But I cut as a woman in front of along line of men...Nobody minded... And then patiently waited for our bus to arrive, 20 mins....However carrying around one small suitcase was not fun.... But now am thinking what would I do alone with three pieces of luggage...Would the taxi driver help? The one thing I can't forget is....every 15 minutes theres an announcement not to trust any porters that help you with your luggage....Trust no one....
