RFE on AOS

Hi, i got an rfe for my husbands aos and it is taking more time than i thought to collect the evidence on time. a lawyer i am working with told me that he can not have the documents i need in time to send it in on november 23. I wanted to write a letter to uscic requesting more time to collect the evidence and i will also be getting a letter from the lawyer to support my response. i will not be sending in the documents that i already have because i do not want them to lose anything and i will have to go up and down to collect the info again. wen i recieve all the iformation, then i want to send everything in. i have read that my case might get denied but right now there is nothing i can posibly do. and when i send in these letters for more time, do i make a copy of the RFE and place it on the top because i am assuming i will need the original when i send in all of the evidence?

Sending in multiple responses to an RFE is a recipe for disaster, and invites one of your responses to not be correctly forwarded to your file.

You are typically given 87 days to respond to an RFE and they are not extended. If you have not provided the information they require within those 87 days then your AoS will be denied.

They won't give you more time. You can ask, but they won't give it to you. It sounds like your lawyer is screwing you over. I would do whatever you can to get what you need in time, but if you can't, then let them know. Wait for the denial. Refile/motion to re-open when you have everything. Without that lawyer.
