Hi,, Mar7aba Salam a Leikum,, My husband is from Jordan and our case just closed at the NVC on November 6, 2012..To give a quick background I was in Jordan with my husband for about a year when we found out we were having a baby so being a disabled veteran of the US Marines I have veterans benefits that covered the pregnancy and birth I was about 5 months pregnant when I came home to have the baby and we started is visa process so we are so close to the end I have not seen him since January almost a year and he has not met his son yet...only through the likes of skype..We have been going through this process for quite some time now our priority date is March 2012 anyways long story short we are in line for an interview and I called the NVC and was told they are almost done scheduling for the month of December and if we dont receive and interview date by the end of next week its likely he will have his interview in January..Another month of him not meeting his son is hard..at least our son is too young to remember any of this..So I am looking for experiences of interviews in Amman and also how long after peoples cases closed did they receive their interview date and how far out..etc...I am also aware that Amman is fond of AP for their visas I am hoping we get a consular officer who has some compassion for our situation and also myself being a veteran and US citizen and yes probably not but I can hope right lol..Anyways would really appreciate any feed back...Thanks :)

I'm not able to answer your question, alas, but just wanted to say Semper Fi! My brother is active duty infantry @ Camp Lejeune. Thank you for your service and Inshallah your wait won't be much longer.

PS: Every MENA case is different when it comes to AP/AR. But it seems Sham country applicants (North/Levantine Arabic speaking countries) aren't in it as long as others, of course there are exceptions. After your petition was approved it essentially became a visa application for your husband, so their focus is now on him, not you. All the best!

Having gone through Amman, and attending the interview with my husband, I can say from experience to NOT count on compassion from the CO. It was a tough interview and my husband had AP for 10 weeks. They have a job to do, and if there is AP to be done, it has already decided before the interview and there is no way to get around it or expedite it. Everyone at the consulate was very nice and helpful with the exception of the CO, he meant business. Just tell your husband to try to be as relaxed as possible, dress nice, be respectful of the CO and answer all questions truthful and he will be fine. If he gets AP it isn't the end of the world and hopefully won;t last for more than a few months. Good luck.
