"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Those numbers by themselves really tells you nothing. You can infer many things from this data and still get it wrong. For example, it could be telling us that republicans only care about the eilte.

Take a look at the difference between federal spending on any given state and the federal taxes received from that state. We measure the difference as a dollar amount: Federal Spending per Dollar of Federal Taxes. A figure of $1.00 means that particular state received as much as it paid in to the federal government. Anything over a dollar means the state received more than it paid; anything less than $1.00 means the state paid more in taxes than it received in services. The higher the figure, the more a given state is a welfare queen.

Of the twenty worst states, 16 are either Republican dominated or conservative states. Let's go through the top twenty.

New Mexico: $2.03

Mississippi: $2.02

Alaska: $1.84

Louisiana: $1.78

West Virginia: $1.76

North Dakota: $1.68

Alabama: $1.66

South Dakota: $1.53

Kentucky: $1.51

Virginia: $1.51

Montana: $1.47

Hawaii: $1.44

Maine: $1.41

Arkansas: $1.41

Oklahoma: $1.36

South Carolina: $1.35

Missouri: $1.32

Maryland: $1.30

Tennessee: $1.27

Idaho: $1.21

Do you think this might have something to do with population?

For example, California is #1 most populous and most welfare recipients.

Texas #2 pop and #3 W.R.

New York #3 pop and #2 W.R.

Georgia #9 pop and #10 W.R.

Massachusetts #14 pop and #14 W.R.

Oh that's right I forgot, you don't do facts/logic.

The question you should be asking is why is Kentucky not on the top 20 most populous states but #19 on welfare recipients? Why is Tennessee the #17th most populous state but the 7th greatest # of welfare recipients?

Why does Tennessee (6.4 million people / 180,466 welfare recipients) give out more welfare than Florida (19 million people / 119,080 welfare recipients)?

Why are Maryland and Wisconsin (#19 and #20 most populous states) not on your top 20 welfare recipient list?

And finally, how come Kentucky (4.3 million people / 76,688 welfare recipients) has about 6,500 more people on welfare than Virginia when Virginia has 8.1 million people, about twice as many as Kentucky?

As I said those numbers really tell us nothing. I made something up from statistics that were being used to support an agenda.

Or that they haven't counted me in Vermont yet.
