So..what now?

Hi folks.

Well, we have our NOA2 now; I've got the police certificate, our binder full of proofs and the original I-129F application, the affidavit of support, birth certificate, etc.

We know that our case will be transferred to the NVC soon, then on to the DOS/embassy.

We really want to minimize downtime as much as possible to make sure there are as few delays as possible -- the longer we wait, the less likely family will be able to attend our wedding. We have a bit of a time crunch on our hands.

So, some questions:

1. When should we realistically start calling NVC?

2. Once NVC gives us a LDN#, what can we do with it? Is that what lets us book the medical?

3. At what stage (and how) do we pay the visa fee?

4. Once our case has left NVC, how many days should we give before we call DOS to find out if the embassy received it?

5. Can I send the packet 3 documents as soon as the embassy receives our case?

6. How helpful is the embassy re: trying to fit your interview date in as early as possible? I can interview at a moment's notice, so any cancellations etc. would be fine; we plan to put a cover note explaining this. Note that it's not for any emergency reason though, we'd just like to have my family there when we get married.

Also, is there a link to current packet 3 forms?

Many thanks!

Did you read the pinned thread at the top part of this forum? It answers all of your questions or tells what others have done. It has a copy of the letters. Some worry warts call and call. Others (me) say let them get on with their work. Did you call USCIS everyday to say "tell me about my case today?" Just read the experiences in the thread and formulate what you think is best because that's why the thread is there---to gather knowledge in one place. Invest an hour in studying it if your visa is important to you. I've invested hours into writing details in that thread and don't really want to repeat it all in a one-off thread. Maybe some other kind soul will.

It does say this on the Embassy website:

Note: Only applicants who been notified by the Immigrant Visa Unit that a petition has been received in their name should complete the visa application forms. Forms received without the applicant's case number will be discarded.
