Bottom line is when you are madly in love for real it is very uncommon to take a step back and be calculating and evaluate things like what if she leaves me? its very uncommon I sense ulterior motives here.

Just google abiding illegal immigrate to get your answer. It is a little strange that your questioning the 90 marriage part ( before marriage), it does come off as if your not 100%. Usually people worry about what will happen if I marry this person and they leave after they get what they want. I would imagine if you decide not to go on with the marriage you should contact immigration if she refuses to go back home.

In other words, you believe that prenuptial agreements have absolutely no validity in society. This isn't a psychology forum, I didn't ask for your relationship advice, as the poster below noted. 50% of marriages end up in divorce and they're all "madly in love for real" (as you so eloquently noted) on their wedding day. Educated people who use logic and reasoning understand that they shouldn't believe everything they think. No matter how sure I am right now that I want to marry her, I have to allow the possibility that my perception is incorrect, especially under these very unique circumstances. Also, by the time you finish reading this sentence, you're still going to be convinced I have some ulterior motive. A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still.

Thank you kindly, this is the best advice I've received in this thread. It's objective and unbiased.

It is natural to think through all possibilities, but you lost the plot when you asked about living together after the I-94 expires without marrying. But, maybe it was not written how you meant it.

There is no need to get defensive.

If you're having doubts, on yourself or your fiancee, I suggest to postpone filing. Think things through. :innocent:

Welcome to VJ.

Thank you. I'm surprised this thread got so much attention and I appreciate most of the feedback. The fact of the matter is that I'm a pretty doubtful person regardless of the relationship I'm in. I've known my fiancee for about 9 years now, but the amount of physical time we've spent together probably amounts to only about 3 months. Naturally both of us understand that living and spending a lot of time together is crucial to finding out if you'd be suitable for marriage, but that's a luxury we don't have. I'm 32 and she's 34 and we don't want to waste our lives taking vacations to see each other. I've already discussed the responses in this thread with her and she feels the same way I do.

I told her today that she needs to leave before the 90 days are up if we don't get married. I believe she is required to buy a round-trip ticket before coming here anyway.

Your original question simply answered by the USCIS

What happens if we do not marry within 90 days?

Fiancé(e) status automatically expires after 90 days. It cannot be extended. Your fiancé(e) should leave the United States at the end of the 90 days if you do not marry. If your fiancé(e) does not depart, he or she will be in violation of U.S. immigration law. This may result in removal (deportation) and/or could affect future eligibility for U.S. immigration benefits

I don't think she is required to have a round trip ticket. The visa is given with the intention of marrying, adjusting status, and remaining in the US indefinitely.

Thanks, I don't know where I read that but I guess it was bad info. I just found another link on here saying the same thing, that it's not a requirement.

No problem. Other members claim to have gotten here just fine without it. I have read others suggesting a round trip ticket as it can sometimes be cheaper than a one way ticket though.

Some people here love to read more into what others post, love a juicy story, and love to know the "why?" rather than just giving some answers or opinions sticking to the question at hand. It happens. Your questions are very understandable. Edited by TnJ

Thanks. Last question, is there any way to delete this thread? This might be paranoid, but I'm concerned that the NVC will somehow come across this and then deny my application from all the speculation about my intentions and apprehensions and what not. Is there anything I can do to prevent that from happening?

Well, there has certainly been more questionable intentions on these forums. I wouldn't be paranoid about asking a simple question regarding the laws and the way things work. It's a question everyone has had really. Nobody knew the answers before they discovered it for themselves. However, you can use the 'Report' button at the bottom of the post if you want it moderated. Explain what the report is, and a mod should take care of the rest eventually.

As an immigrant myself I want to correct Kazulie. If she does not marries you, overstays her visa, and still lives with you and then gets caught (even a minor traffic violation which results in document check) you may be prosecuted for not reporting an illegal alien or even worst for helping illegal alien. Both those cases would carry noticable penalties up to an inclduing jail time for you personally and would leave a major stain on your record even if you walk away for it.

If you decide to break the marriage off its in your best interest to make sure she leaves on time, or to report to the police in case you know of an illegal action that is going to take place.

I personally know people that were prosecuted for similar situation of aiding an illegal alien.

She would not be an illegal alien. An illegal alien is someone who enters this country illegally or without the country knowing it.
