Hi everyone.

We've got a LOT of evidence to support our genuine relationship. What I'm wondering is, WHAT TO BRING, and HOW MUCH to bring.

Is there a list somewhere of what they like to look at?

Thanks!

Bring it all with photocopies of documents and colour copies of photos (you won't get them back). That's what a lot of people say on here, anyways.

KISS--Keep it simple Sh..... 99.9%%% of the time they don't ask for any evidence at the interview. The interview itself is super quick, lucky to be 10 minutes and a lot of that time is silence! So bring quality over quantity! Some like myself, bought a plastic accordion binder--the ones that have like 12 or so slots in them. So you can nicely arrange everything (and keep ur immigration stuff you wil need for later down the road) I brought a few pictures of us together, and with her family, she with my family, travel receipts, letter from her mom. That was about it, wasn't a lot, but it was quality. They never asked to see anything...but yes, it is best to be prepared.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Montreal didn't ask for evidence of a relationship (they rarely do since Canada isn't a high-fraud country) but I brought this along anyways:

4 photos of us from throughout our relationship

boarding passes and tickets

credit card statements that showed I was in the US

flight/travel itineraries

western union receipts from when we sent money to each other

If you're thinking of e-mails or chat logs, just pick a few from various times throughout your relationship. Like maybe one for every 3 months or so. Emails and chat logs aren't very strong evidence, btw, but they certainly can supplement other evidence.

Phone bills is another idea.

Any photos of your wedding, honeymoon, etc.

Since you're married, anything that shows co-mingling of your assets would be great.

I had my interview in Vancouver and they did ask for evidence, thankfully I went prepared. I had pictures, travel receipts including airline ticket stubs and hotel receipts, half a dozen pics some crudely printed from a ink jet but photos nonetheless, cell phone records, birthday cards and so much more. My interviewer shuffled through them quickly and I got the sense that I could have got away with less. My one piece of advice, however is this:

Don't leave ANYTHING to chance. You're always gonna have room for a few extra sheets of paper and will not regret being over prepared.

A guy ahead of me sadly was declined because of lack of evidence so don't listen to people on here who say they rarely ask for it. Maybe it's true in their cases, but don't cut any corners!

Thanks, people. We truly appreciate the replies.

And KS_Jayhawk, we are with you on this... Rather be over-prepared, than disappointed!

No 1 here has said not to bring evidence. It is true that Montreal (u went to vancouver and ur a k1) rarely asks for evidence, but 1 should always be prepared, and have evidence with you, just don't need tons of it
