Why would any straight person feel threatened by a homosexual couple getting married? In what way can it possibly affect you in any way?

All they want is the same rights other couples have. For example, when I was working on a cancer unit and this man's partner came in asking about his condition, I could not speak to him because as far as the law was concerned he was not next of kin. Had they been married things would have been different. In this particular case the patient's parents and his partner disagreed about what he wanted for end of life care. These kinds of situations are just one reason why it makes sense to allow gay marriage.
