My wife was here under one visa and will come back with a green card once we're married.

Will she be given a new social security number when she returns, or will she get to keep the one she already has that was given to her when she came over on a temp visa (J-1)?

I know this may sound trivial, but she just wanted me to ask because she likes that her current social has part of her birthday in it.

Thanks in advance guys

Cool!

Sorry forgot to mention, it may be up to a year till she gets back. Does that mean there's no expiration for the social they get when they come over?

Sorry, I just know she'll ask me if I mentioned that. She's very specific my little one. :help:

Correct. No expiration on the SS number. Same as your own SS#.

Are you guys married already or you will marry once she enters in US? If your fiancee/wife was already here in US before and had a SS# then she will be issued the same number but I think she will have to go to the SS office to renew it and then she will be given the same one. The SS# is for life!
