Hi guys,

My mother owns a couple of properties in Vietnam but it is currently under a relative's name. Sure, our relative can be trusted but we are nervous because she is getting old. So, if my mother goes through the process of retaining her Vietnamese citizenship, she can put the properties under her name correct? If she retaining the Vietnamese citizenship, she would not have problem with the US government, correct? Thank guys.

Yup, the US has no problem with dual citizenship and Vietnamese govt recently recognized that too. It's not like India or China where you lose your citizenship once you become a citizen of another country.

She can own property in Vietnam. If her passport is expired, she can renew it here so when she travel to Vietnam she doesn't need to get a visa.

You too, can claim your Vietnamese citizenship through birth if your parent didn't renounced (từ quốc tịch) their Vietnamese citizenship or if you were born in Vietnam and have the original birth certificate.

And I will have my wife renew her viet passport.

Finally after almost 3 years on this site.

I just received her Green Card Today

For those of you who are scare to get married the first time, don't be, but it would probably be a better idea if you married on your second or third visit

that is all.

If it only took a couple of bills...we're talking half the value of the house here. I know 3 people that could not sell property. Something to think about

It's YMMV.

When I check visa price for China today. It costs $30 except for USC $130. I think I can apply for Chinese Visa with my Vietnamese passport. That's a big saving.

I told my friend who is a Chinese-Vietnamese-American (). If he reclaims his Vietnamese citizenship, his two sons can apply for Vietnamese passports with him too. That's $300 saving for a trip to China.
