We are ready to mail Affadavit of Support and DS-230 to NVC. We have been ready since September. The reason for the delay is my mom's birth certificate had a problem (she found she had TWO birth certificates; don't ask) and it will be until January until we get this resoved through the NSO (the Filipino legal process).

The question is should we just submit the AOS now or should we wait until she has her birth certificate is resolved? Her petition was approved on June 25th and given a case number in July 31st. My concern is that her paperwork will expire before she has a chance to even interview despite the fact that we have done everything by the book. On the other hand, I did not want to submit her paperwork way earlier than she could have her birth certificate issue resolved and ready when she gets the call to interview in Manila.

So how long is her "paperwork" good for? I expect she will have everything ready and we can then mail her stuff to NVC in January. Are we cutting it close? What is the cutoff for her to get an interview?

Thanks

Just curious, hope you don't mind, me asking these, are the 2 birth certificates of your mother both have the same datas? like same names or different dates of births?why do you still have to correct it, Can she not just use the one she is using now?thanks.

Look, this is my wife's mother and I frankly don't understand how someone ends up with TWO different birth certificates with TWO different set of information. I think the screw up on hers was there was a variation in the name, not the date on the cert. I don't remember. Hopefully my wife will read this and help me remember. Bottom line is, there were two different certs and I think the concern was the information on the paperwork we already submitted was not going to match up with her cert now. That is why I put in parenthesis "don't ask" because it makes zero sense to me. Bottom line, we did everything we were supposed to and we want her here in the worst way. MY question is, when is it too late for us to submit our paperwork? I am sure you can't wait forever. But we got a case number this summer so do how long do we have to send it in to NVC? Or should we do it now? The other concern was we submit to NVC, then they call her for an interview and she does not have her birth cert. situation straight, so we get screwed that way.

I appreciate your question and perhaps my wife will read this and shed some more light on the mysterious double Birth Cert in the Philippines.
