Hi Everybody!

Just have a question for now..

Couple weeks ago I sent all needed forms (i-130, g-325, i-485, i-765, i-864) for GC. I got married about 2 years ago.. and just now decided to start with all process...

Couple days ago I received I-797C Form.. appointment for finger prints.

How long it will get to receive a SSN?

Thanks!

**** Moving from K1 to SSN forum ****

Did you specifically request a SSN?

What visa did you originally come in on?

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

You normally need to request a SSN, either by ticking the relevant box on visa paperwork or going by the Social Security Office and getting one via them. I am not sure you can get one while the AOS process is ongoing though- hopefully someone with more specialised knowledge will come along and answer.

You are here on an expired B1/B2 visa. You are NOT eligible for a SSN until you have your EAD (60-90 days from filing). At that time you will need to go to the social security office and apply for one which will have "valid with DHS authorization" printed on it.

The visa you came in on does not have a box to check or any application for a SSN with it. Totally different process.

Okay. An RFE for the I-485 pauses ALL of the forms until you successfully reply to the RFE. So the RFE is going to add a little time to your waiting period.

:( I think, I know what they gonna ask... I reviewed my i-485 form and was very surprised to put N/A in Part 3. Section B. "List present spouse and all of your children....". Somehow I translated it as "old/last" spouse (I have been never married before).. and not details of my current love :(((
