Would really be thankful if someone could tell me the process involved with changing a J-1 visa after marriage..! Is it possible to do everything (all paper work etc) in the US without having to return to my home country to file for k-1 or CR-1???

Yes, it is possible. She will not get a CR-1, which is a visa to enter the country, as she is already here. You will need to file Adjustment of Status (AOS). See our Guide here: http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

You can do it within the US. Check out USCIS website they have it there. Basically, I-130 form, I-485, I-765 (if you want to get an employment authorization document to be able to work while your case is pending). Also, I-693, and I-864 is needed. There are tons of people that went through this process, or currently going through this process (myself included). So, if you flip back a couple thread you'll even find ideas what else you can include to prove bona fide marriage. You do not need a lawyer, unless you want to. I've read everything from this site, no lawyer, and so far everything went completely fine. I still have the interview left though...>.< Anyway, good luck! :)
