Your AP travel permission will not be approved in time, sorry. It will take around 3 months to be approved. If you leave the country before then, your AOS will be denied for abandonment.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

You can NOT leave the USA before you submit all your AOS papers and get your Advance Parole approved. The AP usually takes between 2 and 3 months from the moment they received your papers. If you go to Costa Rica before you have your AP approved, you won't be allowed to re enter USA and your AOS will be considered abandoned.

They will expedite processing for emergencies. This doesn't sound like what they would normally call an "emergency" but you could always set up an infopass appointment and might get an interview with someone who is willing to expedite.

No approved AP, you can't travel outside US. Well you can but won't be allowed to re-enter. K1 is a one-time entry to the country.

Good luck!

Follow Grant PDX's advise. Having the expedite denied won't affect your application. While it's a longshot, it's not going to hurt you. Bring bring proof of travel arrangements to the appointment.

Without AP in hand, don't travel outside US. You will be abandoning your AOS application by leaving country without AP and you cannot re-enter until you have te right visa which, in your case, would be starting all over waiting in home country while going the spousal petition route.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days
