CR-1 application with J-1 visa staus...

Hey... I'm completely new to this website but have so far found everything super helpful. I've been with my American boyfriend for 2 years.. I have spent summers with him using a J-1 visa and plan to go over this summer (2013) using the extended J-1 visa programme for a year(this visa will permit me to live and work in the US for one year)...

We have spoken about marriage as our only hope for staying together due to the fact I will have to return to Ireland after this yearlong J-1..

My questions are as follows

1) Is it possible to marry in the US whilst on this J-1?

2) If so, is it possible to begin the CR-1 application process whilst I remain in the US on the J-1?? (I have no intention to overstay, I guess we would plan to marry before the year visa is expired)

3) I am aware the process time for the CR-1 is long and I was also wondering if it would be possible for me to travel and stay with my boyfriend in the US whilst it continues to be processed...

ANY help or advice would be sincerely appreciated!!

I guess I'm really just asking if it's possible to adjust my status from J-1 to CR-1??? And would I be able to remain in the U.S with my husband during this adjustment...
