It's a 2 party system. You have to vote red or blue. If you believe the red team are gonna sh*t all over you and look after their rich friends then you vote blue.

It doesn't matter whether you believe that the minorities who voted for Obama did the right thing. They did what they thought was the right thing and they are entitled to use their vote any way they wish. There are two politically relevant parties in this country. One of the two is looking down on minorities pretending that people belonging to minorities are lazy, stupid, incapable leeches all just out to mooch off the white folk. People of that party do not generally see minorities as "real Americans" but like to characterize them as "others". You can see that ugly attitude in this very thread, in P&R generally and across the entire right wing echo chamber.

Now, the other party works to integrate minorities and accepts them as members of this society that are just as valuable as everyone else. Members of this party believe that minorities are people with hopes and dreams and ambitions and goals and that minorities - just like anybody else - strive for a better life for their children. This party believes that minorities are every bit as American as the rest of the country.

Minorities generally do not feel as welcome in and represented by the former party as they do in and by the latter. It's not hard to see why.
