No it wouldn't.

Yes it would, if Obama was named John Smith and was a caucasian, you wouldn't see this type of reaction.

I wouldn't wish the death of our fine young President, but it doesn't hurt to be prepared for even that unlikely event.

I must have misunderstood. I thought he meant the election results would have been different.

Oh ok, I think he would have won if he were white as well. Contrary to some people on here believe, Obama is a very well liked person. I think big dog was responding to the resounding hate that most people have against Obama.

I think there are people who dislike him for very valid reasons. Racism, of course, not being one of them.

They are just in the minority when they, a couple of days ago, assumed it was the majority.

True, it's like that here in my building, those folks came in yesterday seething, when I ask them why they are so angry at him, they can't give me a valid reason without getting all flustered. I understand that you can disagree with someone without bringing race into it, but it's funny how Obama gets blamed/labeled or criticized about things, but when other presidents did it, no one raised a stink about it or they did it respectfully.

I think . . . that if Obama was white, he'd be getting a lot more votes from the tens of millions of white folks who simply can't accept a black man in the White House.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

I think a lot of people thought "ok we'll give this black guy a chance but he better not ** things up". They set the bar impossibly high for him and just because he wasn't superhuman and fixed everything (without help!) he was deemed a failure. If he was white less would have been expected of him so he would have been seen as the moderate success that he is.

I'm sure the majority of people who seem to hate Obama hate him for reasons other than his color but there is a sizable minority who can't see past the shade of his skin.

It's always harder for a pioneer. Maybe the next ethnic president will have an easier time.

Slip and falls in the home are still a leading cause of accidental deaths in the US, and on the rise. :(

I realize you are not an Obama fan but he is still your President. Show some respect.

The stuff you are saying sounds like thinly veiled threats which is not at all amusing to anyone with even half a brain and an ounce of pride in this country.

Your moniker "The Patriot" must be tongue in cheek because you are certainly NOT patriotic.

Hey, I'm trying to eat my lunch here. :( "President-elect Romney" made me throw up a bit.

Evylin, I just have to tell you that your posts crack me up!

Hell of a thing to say to a veteran.

Sorry, I honestly did not know you served and are a veteran. I was basing it on the stuff you keep saying about our president.

I've disliked past presidents and really would have had a difficult time accepting Romney but once they win the election I do my best to be respectful of the position even if I still am less than impressed with the man. I was jsut carrying on the banter with you but did not mean to actually offend.

My dad was USN Retired SCPO I really would not have made the joke if I realized and especially not with Veterans day around the corner.

Please accept my apology.

Respect needs to be earned. So far, he hasn't earned it with me.

You have a valid point. It does need to be earned by the person but I think we all need to respect him because he is the President and not just a guy on the street. He was elected and that means something.

No problem. People are allowed to talk bad about their country and those that are in charge. It is the American way. It is also the soldier's duty to complain. That is the Army way, well, at least according to Ernie Pyle, who loved the common soldier, but not always those that led them.

Salute the rank, respect the man. One comes with the office, the other comes with a price.
