So I received my NOA1 and filled out all the forms, paid my visa fee and have been for my medical.

I sent out all the forms in the post via recorded delivery and phoned the medical centre to verify that they had sent out the results of my medical.

This was about 8 weeks ago and I have made a few phone calls to the London Embassy to see if everything is ok. They kept telling me that everything is backlogged, I should expect some delays and to call back again 2 weeks later.

I called back 2 weeks later (this was on Monday) and they said that I need to email the consular with a code and to request a status update.

I received an email back from the consular and they said:

Thank you for your email.

Visa records show that the Immigrant Visa Unit is awaiting receipt of forms DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157, DS-230 (part 1) and DS-2001 in your case. Please submit these forms as soon as possible.

If you have already submitted the forms, you should note that it can take 3-4 weeks for documents received to be registered on an applicant’s file.

Sincerely,

Consular Information Unit

I replied to this email saying:

I had sent all of those forms over 8 weeks ago via recorded delivery. Have you already received them and it hasn't registered yet? Is there any way that someone could check?

Is there an expiry date for this K1 visa application?

Does this mean that they may have received the forms but haven't registered it in their system yet? Or does it mean that they actually haven't received the forms at all?

Is it worth me sending out copies of those forms again?

Has anyone else experienced this and how long does this wait usually take?

Many thanks,

-Sam-

Can you be more specific on your dates? Looking at your VJ timeline, you got the instruction letter (aka packet 3) on Sunday Sept 23? So the earliest you maybe mailed the visa forms should have been Monday Sept 24. That was just 6 weeks Monday, not 8. What was the date of the medical exam?

Sorry I wasn't so specific with the dates. I had my medical on 12th Sept 2012 and I had sent off all of the forms about a week or 2 prior (can't remember specific dates; forgotten to write them down) :bonk:

Good news though! I received an email from the London Consular this morning saying:

Thank you for your email.

An appointment has been scheduled for you on the 5th December at 0900. Written notification of this date and time was sent to you on the 9th November.

Sincerely,

So I guess all it took was a little poke eh? :D

So for future reference, here's how it all went:

1). Sent off all forms and booked medical (unlike me, REMEMBER to check the tracking number for the documents you send).

2). Phoned the medical center to check if they had sent off the results.

3). wait up to 6 weeks (calling the Embassy during this time will only be a waste of money).

4). After 6 weeks, if you've not heard anything from the Embassy, call them and they should give you an email address and a code. Send an email requesting a status update.

5). If they reply saying that they have not yet received the relevant forms, ask them to check.

6). You should then get a reply with your interview appointment!

The above isn't gospel but that's what happened with me ;)
