Chris Matthews apologizes for ‘stupid’ Sandy comments

Chris Matthews opened "Hardball" on Wednesday with a lengthy apology to viewers, pertaining to offensive comments he made on election night while talking about Hurricane Sandy's effect on President Barack Obama's re-election.

"I said something terrible," Matthews said at the top of his MSNBC show. "I said something not just stupid but wrong.."

On Tuesday while assessing Obama's victory, Matthews said he was "glad" Sandy happened because it showed undecided voters the president could come together with Republican leaders, including New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, to help the superstorm's victims.

"I'm so glad we had that storm last week," Matthews said before attempting to clarify himself. "No, politically I should say. Not in terms of hurting people. The storm brought in possibilities for good politics."

Isn't it nice when someone says somthing stupid and they own up to it afterwards and apologize? If only more people would take responsibility for their words.

Indeed. Karl Rove lost his damn mind on Fox News for awhile. It was fun.

The whole story:

Fox declared Ohio for Obama because its decision desk knew that the uncounted vote at that time in the evening was in areas with overwhelming Obama support. Rove didn't know that, Clemente said. Through his own reporting, Rove saw the actual vote count narrowing to a margin below 1,000 — information the decision desk didn't know at the time.

"It all came out at once," Clemente said. "It would have been easier if it had all come out in some linear fashion, but it didn't."

Rove's information explains why it took the Romney campaign some time after the network declarations to eventually concede the race, he said.

Poor Rove - didn't have the information that literally every other network had.

He probably didn't want to come to terms with just how much money he wasted.

Rove, through his two political groups, American Crossroads and Crossroads Grassroots Policy Strategies, backed unsuccessful Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney with $127 million on more than 82,000 television spots, according to Kantar Media’s CMAG, an ad tracker based in New York. Ten of the 12 Senate candidates and four of the nine House candidates they supported also lost their races.
