I am a US Born Citizen, I am a male, my two sons are in El Salvador with their mom, they were born out of wedlock. I was wondering if it would be better for me to make an appointment at the US Embassy to do the Consular Report of Birth, or if I should go the I-130 route.

My oldest turned 3 in October, and my youngest turns 2 in February. I have Birth Certificates showing my name (filed right after they were born) and I have proof that I support them financially as well as pictures of us together of every time I go visit them.

I meet all the requirements listed on the US Embassy website "CROBA – Child Born Out of Wedlock to an American Citizen Father" (http://sansalvador.usembassy.gov/birth_abroad.html#E)

The only thing I don't have is DNA Proof.

Any advice? I am thinking Consular Report of Birth will be the easiest way to go about doing this, I am available to go for 2 weeks at a time to do this paperwork but if I can do most of everything from the USA it'd be better for me and my work-schedule.

Thank you.

You cannot get a visa for them if they have/ are entitled to US citizenship, you must go the CRBA route.

Thanks, I am not sure if this makes a difference, but I brought my wife in May (CR-1).

My wife is not the mother of my 2 children.

Can someone move this to CRBA subforum?
