After my wife receives her CR-1 visa and it comes time to actually fly to the US, do I need to fly with her and be present when she speaks with the immigration officer at the airport?

Our visa journey:

Me: American citizen living in Germany

My wife: Italian citizen living with me in Germany

May 2011 - Married :)

May 2012 - Mail I-130 packet to USCIS Frankfurt

June 2012 - Travelling in Africa

July 2012 - Find that the I-130 packet has been returned because the processing payment was denied (bank suspected fraud)

Late July - Hand deliver I-130 packet to USCIS Frankfurt, pay in cash, and deliver DS-230 to Consular section

August 2012 - Medical interview, compile and send rest of DS-230 packet

Late September 2012 - Letter from USCIS Rome, asking for translations of some German documents, our paperwork had been transferred to Rome for "expediency"

Early October 2012 - Mail translations to USCIS Rome

Late October - Consulate asks for some additional documents pertaining to I-864 (including Joint sponsor's proof of citizenship)

Early November - USCIS Rome approves our I-130 petition

Mid-November - Currently waiting to hear about our interview appointment

December 2012 - Expected move to the US

No, but the USC is supposed to move back to the USA before or at the same time as the beneficiary. If you get a picky officer at the border, there is a small chance they may deny her if you are still in the foreign country, espeicially if you are still working/ otherwise aren't clearly in the process of moving back to the USA.
