It appears that the House will vote this week on re-authorising VAWA.

In addition, it seems they will be passing the expanded version of VAWA already passed by the Senate, which increases protections for illegal immigrants and LGBT individuals.

ishka86 same for me i applied for food stamps someone told me to apply but iwas denied n an oficer in childrens n family told me that i dont have 5 year residence n thats why, i went to the drivers license office n they gave me a lisence for 1 year temporally my lawyer only apply for i-360 vawa not i-765 working permit or even i-485 adjusment of status he said my case wasnt strong enough n i should wait bcuz if it was denied they will deport me :(

What does your lawyer mean with "not good enough"? of course you can apply for a working permit while your 360 is pending. You can also have the fee waived, I think you should talk to your lawyer and/or change it

peanutbutter I believe nataliaLD was properly advised by her lawyer regarding not to file form I-485 and I-765 because her vawa case wan't strong enough, second her words. It means if her case is denied Uscis won't start removal proceedings against her, because they are not deporting Vawa filers right now, but if she submit form I-485/I-765 and her Vawa case is denied they will start with her removal from USA.

She can apply for a working permit for sure if she files form I-485 and I-765, but not advised.

honestlove do you have a pending I-485? if you have then you can file out form I-765, if you don't have then you must submit form I-765 along with form I-485 in order to receive a work permit, if you are not in removal proceedings tho.If you can't pay the Uscis fees file out form I-912 as well.

Some DMV accept prima facie to apply for a driving license, you have to check in your city.

Honest love you can submit form I-765 to get work permit but as i said before in order to do that you must file Out form I-485 as well. They will issue your work permit in 30/60 days. You don't need to have your vawa approved to file out form I-765.Is your lawyer a pro bono lawyer?then ask him to file out for you.If he is charging you then you have the option to submit the forms yourself to Uscis but let him know before ok..Are you doing therapy?.Find a place where you can go for counseling or therapy .It's important to have profissional help for you overcome the violence that you suffered. Keep in mind that you have two children to take care and suicide is not an option.I think you are feeling better but once you tried to commit suicide is very important therapy. Your kids need you and you don't want your kids being raised by your abuser right? Then please seek some treatment asap if you are not doing yet.You are a survivor. He tried against your life but he has no power to break your spirit.
